Broken microwave door latches

Where do I buy replacement latches and how do I separate the door panels. It looks like I need to pry the tabs open, but I am worried about snapping them off trying to bend them back.

Go to www.repairclinic.com and enter 363-63673201 in the search box for your model.
You will see a hinge repair kit.
Usually the kit will come with instructions.

Microwaves are cheap. If it's got any age on it, get another one. Don't risk getting radiated.if Risk then remember
This is actually an easy fix. The hard part is getting the part. You might be able to get the part on line. Get the make, model and serial#. See if the manufacturer will sell you the latch. Usually there is about 6 screws on the out side edge of the door. Also 4 screws in the door. assemble the same way it came apart. If you can't get the part trash it.

Many exterior broken parts of a microwave oven can be replaced. Only experienced technicians should repair internal parts.

workers have all seen it: the neglected microwave oven that contains the remnants of many lunch explosions. Microwave ovens cook fast, are convenient and are relatively inexpensive -- which means they're often taken for granted and not treated as well as other appliances. Can they be repaired if they fail? What about replacing broken parts?

If a microwave oven stops working, Chris Hall, president of RepairClinic.com, recommends that consumers not dismantle them: "There are some high-voltage components inside the unit so we don't advise the average consumer to attempt internal repairs. But years of fielding consumer questions about microwave ovens means that we can offer some important use and safety tips, as well as provide those appliance parts that can be replaced."

The mounts hold the door switches and grab the door hooks when it the door is closed.

The solution is to realign and tighten the mount screws inside.

It's less liekly, but it could be a weak or worn door open lever inside.

We have the service manual and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

You can order parts here if needed.

Door of microwave wont shut

If you gently push up on the door latches (hook-like devices on the door) there should be spring tension. If they just flop right up, the spring is off.

We have critical safety & disassembly info at our site, linked here.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

If you need to order parts, call 1-800-243-0000 (M-F, 7am-8pm CT, Sat 8-5 CT) and choose the appropriate prompt from the menu or visit here.

After you look into this, if you still need help, please write back with your model number and more details.

Directions to remove and open door panel to repair safety door latch.

You don't have to remove door to remove panel. Panel is held in by an outer plastic retainer which can be removed by carefully prying with a small screwdriver. I can be replaced by pushing it back in place after repair is completed. If you cannot open door from the outside, remove cover and you can see latches. Pry up on latch which will let door open.
