No problems,,, just paint it,, so long as you use normal paints without any metal in them any enamel paint will do,, but it will work fine as it is,, it realy dont need any paint on it,, its only there to make it look nice,,however if you do paint it you must let it dry out fully before you use it again or you may find it go's with a big "bang!" when the paint catches fire!!!!!!!!!

My ge micro will not stop turning

HELLO.

If by not turning mean turntable fault, the solution is given below in detail.

1 Press "Stop" to halt microwave operation.

2 Press the "Turntable" button once to turn off rotation.

3 Push the door-release button to open the microwave oven if you do not have a "Turntable" button on your control keypad.

4 Lift and remove the glass platter from the oven, then pick up the plastic track with three wheels below the platter. Set aside these parts.

5 Insert the elevated microwave cooking tray into the oven. The tray has three to four short legs that hold it above the bottom of the microwave, keeping it from interfering with the rotating bolt in the bottom center of the oven the drives the turntable. You can now place food on the elevated tray and cook normally without disrupting the drive bolt.

Thanks.

Paint is peeling inside the top of the microwave. Does this affect the safety or efficacy of the microwave. Can I repaint it? If so, with what?

Yes you can repaint it. Use an epoxy based paint and clean the metalwork with sand paper first.
The only health question is if you get the flaking paint in your food - yuk!

Sparks from GE Microwave - HVM1540SN2SS

THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY METALS IN A MICROWAVE WHEN THE UNIT IS RUNNING
If the unit paint is flaking and behind that flake is metal.. You need to throw it away or talk to your appliance guy and see if there is a speacial paint to coat the metal so you can use your MW

I have a GE Spacemaker II microwave: JEM25GY that died. It seems less expensive to replace rather than fix. Power works; it doesn't heat. New models all apparently have turntables; mine didn't and I...

YOU CAN TRY REMOVING THE GLASS TRAY AND TURNTABLE AND REPLACING IT WITH YOUR OLD GLASS TRAY (IF YOU HAD ONE) OR JUST ANY GLASS MICROWAVE TRAY. WITHOUT THE TURNTABLE, I CAN'T SEE HOW IT CAN ROTATE.

The paint (or whatever it is covering the bottom)

Check the 3 wheels on the circular plastic part that's fitted below the turntable.
It sounds like they may need some filing down. Run your fingers around the wheels to see if there are any sharp bits of plastic that could be cutting into the paintwork on the base.

Clean out the base of your oven and apply a thin film of vaseline to each of the 3 wheels. This will help rotation in future.
Remember to keep cleaning out any excess food particles that may lodge below the turntable, as these will eventually slow down or stop the rotation, which in turn means that your food is not heated evenly throughout!!!

Enamel under the glass turntable has flaked off

This is due to spills, accumulated moisture from steam / condensation, or both.

It can also be worse if your internal cooling fan is not running, or if the vents or filters are blocked or clogged.

Since the the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and then dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

Let it dry overnight with the microwave door open.

Once that's done, you should occasionally look for accumulated moisture on the floor of the oven and keep it dry.

The model number tag should tell you where it was made.
