I have a safelink government issued phone that stop working (no longer hold charge). I bought another "Tracfone LG'' & tried to transfer the # from old phone. It doesn't work. I replace battery in old phone (should've done this before) & wants to reactivate old phone w/unregistered stem or activate new phone.

As long as the fone u want to use is network unlocked then u can use the (Obama fone , free government fone)Sim card in any fone. Samsung, LG, iPhone etc.... all will work as long as they are network unlocked. Good luck

if you are tracfone safelink subscriber you will need to make sure you have minutes on the new phone to transfer your data. so before you call safelink make sure theres minutes on the new phone..

Lifeline is a landline program. Safelink is the wireless alternative provided chiefly by Tracfone.

You have to apply and qualify. Each household is given one phone per household. They are also provided with a number of minutes which varies from area to area but is usually 68.

You can buy regular Tracfone minutes to top up Safelink phones if you run out of minutes.

Tracfone also owns Net10 and Straight Talk wireless. Those two divisions do not participate in Safelink.

You can upgrade your Safelink phone by purchasing a new/different model, call Safelink but tell them you bought the same original phone you started with and half the time theyll do it. Do not tell them that you upgraded and if a foregin CSR answeres the phone ie,Indian hang up and call again in 2 hour intervals until you get an American SCR.I have never failed to upgrade my Safelink devices.
