Question about Lands Phones

W910i typical fault

So here's the problem:
My phone turned itself off then rebooted. Upon rebooting, I could no longer access messages (inbox, sent items, outbox etc etc). Whenever I tried it said "Operation Failed". So I rebooted. Didn't fix it. I took the battery and USIM out. Didn't fix it. So I turned to the internet for help.

A LOT of other people have had the same problem. They recommended updating to the newest software to fix the problem. So I downloaded the Update Service. Yeah, it said my phone needed the newest software, so it downloaded it. Then it went to install it onto the phone... my phone hasn't turned on since.

Now all I get is one vibration, a black screen with a backlight, and the red camera flash-light on the back of the phone. There is no splash screen. No graphics. Nothing. It sits like that with a black screen.

Is there any way to reset the phone without having to get into the menu system? Because at the moment my phone won't even turn on.

If that's not an option, do you have another solution to this problem?

    I have to keep doing a master reset on my W910i because it keeps stating 'operation failed' when i go into my messages. Obviously when i do a master reset i lose all of my messages which is really annoying! I haven't tried updating the software as I've heard that this sometimes messes up the whole phone. Does anyone have a solution please??

    My phone has the same problem. I CANT recieve messages.. go into my inbox/outbox/drafts.. i can type a message but cant send it. It says operation failed every time. I tried master reset. Didnt work :( I heard a software update is what it needs but it wont let me do that either!! i tried downloading it via internet on my phone and it stops halfway everytime. I tried downloading it through my computer and it wont recognise my phone. Am i just damned and just get a new phone =( this phone has been more bother than its worth!!!

    I get a similar problem with mine too... i get the black screen with a back light but sometimes the screen will re-appear i have updated and that hasnt helped. it seems to work best when you plug it in. could this be a power issue or need a new battery?

    i have a similar problem with my w910i, the black screen and the lights, i successfully updated to its latest firmware but the problem remains... black screen. though i can still receive calls, i cant see anything on the screen. please help me with my problem. thanks

Right, i had the same problem with mine and ive fixed it so i thought i'd share the info :)

The problem is the phones EROM is corrupted. In english that means that the phones "thoughts" are all messed up so it cant start up properly if at all.

What you need to do is "reflash" the phone. This basically means you need to reinstall the software. Head over to http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/phones/topic/updateserviceapplication/w910i?cc=gb&lc=en and download the update service. Once installed chose your phone (in this case the w910i) and follow the on screen steps. Once the update has started DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PHONE!! If you do it will cause the phone to corrupt possibly beyond repair. Once the update has completed take the battery out and put it back in again. Turn the phone on, be patient (wait several mins if you dont see anything) and it should boot up!

i have problems but is different from yours.. i sent mine back to where i bought it and they sent it to SE repair centre repair them for free (under gurantee).

When we press feature 981 the message reads inactive feature. what can we do to fix this issue


That means that the voicemail system is no longer recognized by the phone system. Check the lights on the voicemail to see if its still receiving power.If so try unplugging and plugging the voicemail to reboot it. The voicemail can take up to 6 minutes to totally reboot.

How to access phone messages from home phone


1. click on phone menu.
2. click messages.
3. click on inbox it will bring out the messages sent to your phone

Have just got a second hand one tel phone, still


Go to message - inbox - pick the old message, press option then delete. All the old message will be erased. If its Nokia go to message - delete message - select the from the options (All read, inbox, drafts, sent items). Thanks

Lucent Partner 18D cant fully reboot itself


That one doesn't sound too good.
You could perform a reset through programming which should clear the scratch pad.
Thats done by entering programming on either ext. 10 or 11
Press feature 00 then the left hand intercom twice.
Next enter # 728, the display should say reset save all then reboot the system.If the problem is still there, then the processor is malfunctioning and will need to be replaced.

My sony ericsson w910i screen started to flicker on and off so iturned it off ,,,the battery was almost dead but now it wont turn back on even when i put it on charge??? please help somebody!:(


sony erricson W910i phones DO have a technical fault, i have ine and every now and again it will turn itself off, i advise you to take it to the shop you bouhgt it from, they will help !

I have the Nokia N95 Mobile phone, and recently whenever I recieve a text message it will not show up saying new text message, the only way i found out is by frequently visiting my inbox and seeing that...


Give it a soft reboot i.e. remove the battery while the phone is powered up and leave disconnected for approx. 30seconds. Reinsert the battery and it should all be fine. Ive jsut had this problem on mine and its fixed now, plays the alert and shows up on the mian screen.

When it sais inactive sim it means that the sim card is falling out so get a small peice of paper and put it inbetween the sim card and the battery. It hasnt gon of since if you have any more questions text or ring me on 07896572552
