I need a TWAIN driver for a Canon CanoScan N670U

I got a new hard-drive on my laptop and am trying to reinstall my scanner, a CanoScan 670U. It tells me I need a TWAIN driver to install this software. Where do I get the right one for my XP Home Office system?

Please check whether your scanner gets detected while connectiNg to your PC. If not please check your cable.Did you down loaded the correct driver that is meant for your OS? Please check. One more thing is the PCB at the bottom of your scanner is getting heated up? Then it canbe a problem regarding your PCB. Just replace it

I have problems with TWAIN error - because my CanoScan N670U can't work - always show me that maybe the device is not connected.

I have many years repairing canon scanners so here is my suggestion to you.

I would first google Canon CanoScan N670U drivers. Make sure you download them from the official canon site the drivers are free. All the drivers have a date on them so download the newest drivers. Once the download is complete disconnect the cable from your scanner that goes to your computer then install the new drivers. Once there installed then connect your cable from your scanner back to the port on the computer. A window should pop up saying new drivers are being installed. Once this completes then I would re boot your computer and you should now be able to scan again. Also while your on Canon's website download Capture Perfect its free too and will help you with your scanning projects.

I hope this helps you out.

Where can I find TWAIN driver for a Canon CanoScan N670U for Win-XP

You can find the winows XP drivers here for your scanner:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_n670u?selectedName=DriversAndSoftware

Choose Operating System: Windows XP and you will see a list of the drivers.
the second one is the Twain Driver. I recommend installing both the regular driver and the twain driver both are available from the above link.

Sorry, but the compatibility sites say this is not compatible with Vista or Win 7.

They word is that Canon has no intentions of writing a win 7 driver for this unit.

You should probably backstep to Win XP so you can use this scanner.

These manufacturers are letting Microsoft make the hardware obsolete due to lack of drivers... a conspiracy???,

The driver is on the cd that came with your scanner. If you do not have the cd then you should be able to download it from Cannon's website.

Canon Scanner - Twain Pilot

QUICK ANSWER: use the original USB cable that came with the scanner.

LONG EXPLANATION:
Using Vista (32 bit version) and a Canon N670U scanner with the new drivers installed from the CanonUSA website. This driver is works for Canon scanners: LiDE 20, LiDE 30, N670U, N676U and N1240U, found at http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=235&modelid=6625

Canon says it doesn't support Vista 64 bit version. I couldn't get the scanner to work and kept getting the TWAIN error also, despite uninstalling / reinstalling the driver. Finally, decided to disconnect my 3rd party 16 foot USB cable and use the original cable. I swear, it WORKED! I can't explain why, but it did. Perhaps there is increased resistance, hence reduced power going to the scanner by using longer/different USB cable? Anyhow, it worked...go figure. If you have the 64 bit version of Vista, I guess it won't work(?).
