Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a Hotpoint Mistral frost free fridge freezer model FF72P (according to the sales invoice). The freezer is working fine but the fridge is not cooling. The fan that circulates the air is working fine but keeps cutting out. Any ideas??

Thanks for getting back so quick.

I have cleaned and defrosted the whole lot and still it seems to persist.

It is possibly the fan hitting any overformed ice.
defrosting by shutting it off overnight would be the best to do first.
Or at least shut it off for a few hours.

E8- Evaporator thermistor short circuit

Well this is a sensor,, found in the freezer compartment of the f/f

what you have to do is reove the draws fro mthe freezer and you will c a panel which has 6 screws., remove the panel and and you will c a fan, toward the right of the fan you will c a yellow plug with a bit of wire on it,

This is what you have to replace

try connect distributions you can find them on the net if your in the uk that is

hope this helps

Hotpoint Mistral Frost Free Fridge freezer - fridge not getting cold

We have just had to call out an engineer to get our 1 1/2 year old Hotpoint Graphite Frost Free Fridge Freezer repaired. The fridge had almost entitely stopped cooling even when on high. I was amazed at how easily the problem was sorted. The engineer removed all the basktes from the freezer to access the screws on the inside backpanel of the freezer. Once this panel was removed it was clear that the so called Frost Free doesn't really mean what it says. The ice need to be melted with a bit of simple care. It is obvious that with a bit of care it is easliy a diy job BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND READ THE NEXT PART BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO REMOVE THE ICE> The ice forms around variouys pipes etc and he usecd a screwdriver to help release the ice quicker than waiting for it to defrost and he also used a simple hairdryer to help speed up the process. He had a ntowel and a basin to take care of the water. Next time I would have no problem doing this myself but I would need to leave it a little while to defrost and NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER as I am sure somehow I would puncture a pipe or the wall of the freezer itself and I am quite used to doing the odd bit of DIY. On a difficulkty scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being difficult I would rate the job as about a 3. Hope this helps anyone who reads this about £70.

Freezer ok fridge warm (15 degrees)

You have a hotpoint mistral f/f i take it in silver..

Check to see if the fan is running at the bottom on the back of the fridge its next to the compressor behind the panel ...
if the compressor is running and the fan is not then your fault is the fan..

IF the fan is running then its the sensors...

These are located in the freezer section, pull out the draws and remove the panel behind it.... six screws.......... you will c threes plugs at the top ledt hand side.. the yellow one is for the fridge the green one for the freezer.... replace both if your freezer is not working...

Also just below the freezer door there is a panel remove the panel and use a vaccumm to clean the fluff that has built up on the coils..

hope this helps if you need anymore help dont hesitate to ask...

by the way the sensors are called evap thermistors...

if the door seals are both ok, check and see if she has any open containers in the fridge juice ect that may be allowing moisture to escape. a model number and serial nuber off the sticker in the fridge would help me with more ideas.
