If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor (and fuse).

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer (and fuse).

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

For parts, you can contact LG at 1-800-243-0000 or http://us.lge.com/support/support.jsp

If that doesn't work, please feel free to contact me directly via http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk and I'll help you find a replacement part.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Oil leaking?

The only oil would be in the high voltage capacitor.
If that fails, either the oven will stop cooking, or the fuse will blow as soon as you press the "Start' key to begin cooking.
More likely it is grease from cooking and just needs a cleaning.

Our Goldstar Microwave is plugged in to a live source but, it no longer works; as if there is no power to it. MA 1080M (not the 780 M)

possibly the fuse has blown this will happen sometimes if there is excessive moisture or cockroaches or something strange in the power line the fuse used in microwaves is a slow blow fuse which usually compensates for these problems you also might have a high voltage problem or short note if you are thinking of replacing fuse if that is the problem remember microwaves work on very high voltages be aware of this if not confident please call repair technician keep me informed of the uotcome
