I can connect to the Internet with it if it is directly connected to the PC, but not when I go through a router. Motorola customer support couldn't help me.

Shut down computer (not restart), power cycle modem (unlpug) for thirty seconds. Recconnect power to modem, wait untill all lights are online. Boot up computer, once fully booted.. click start, run, type the following. CMD, in the window that pops up, type ipconfig, then ipconfig/release "you will see lan dissconect message in lower right hand corner" then type ipconfig/renew, then type ipconfig/all and finally type exit. Fire up your web browser and you should be online.

Can I use my router just as a Wireless router with a DSL .

i doubt it will work. most times the cable companies give you a modem/router all in one box. the problem is there in no inbound connection to recieve an internet signal other than the cable cord connection. with the dsl modem you will need a seperate router. they cost around $40-50 on avg

Can't connect to my wireless

I had the exact same problem w/ the Motorola SBG900 Modem/Roter combo. I used to be able to connect to my wireless laptop and then all of a sudden it just wouldn't anymore. So I finally called Motorola and one of their techs (who's like a genius or something) walked me through this complicated procedure for resetting the SBG900 at my desktop and, after, even helped me to connect to my wireless laptop. SWEET! Don't waste your time trying these internet solutions. Call Motorola tech support at (877) 466-8646. They're open unitl 1AM Pacific Time.

Good Luck,
Chris from Cali

Won't connect

Sounds like your modem isn't provisioned with teh cable company... Since the old one still works... IF you purchased this modem and your cable co. allows you to own your own, then you should call them and give them the serial numbers to get it turned on...if they provided this modem they havent updated their system so still call them.  Hope this helps.
