Two 1 gb ram sticks not working together!

I have a motherboard called d102ggc2 with max 2 gb capacity. i recently tried upgrading from 1 gb ram to 2 gb ram by adding another 1 gb stick. The problem is that both the sticks are not working together ( it shows single channel still while i insert the two sticks into the slots)....both sticks work perfectly separately, but when inserted together, it still shows 1 gb ram and another slot is shown as not installed in the bios....what is wrong??

umm....well both the sticks are completely identical, and both were bought from the same company and have the same specs
Do u think i can solve it by a BIOS update?

Sounds like the second RAM stick was placed in the wrong slot. I would suggest checking your motherboard manual to determine this. Some motherboard designs have unusual slot arrangements.

I bought new 2gb ddr2 with 800 mhz and its not working on my motherboard d102ggc2 can u plz help me with the solution

i guess you did not check the compatibility of the RAMs to your MB limitations....
the only solution is to return the RAMs and get the RAMs that is supported by your MB.....

the MB (D102GGC2) can hold only a max of 533 mhz and max of 1GB each in each slot of RAM....
so if you are trying to install one 2GB card of 800 mhz IT WIILL NOT WORK....
get TWO RAM cards of 1GB each (total 2GB) of RAM.... each of 400 mhz....

hope this helps...

To the best of my knowledge, if both RAM speeds are the same and compatible with your FSB your BIOS will reconize them and not average their capacity or favor a compatible stick over another. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help. Good luck.

2 rams nt working simultaneously

Are they exactly the same brand and model? Sometimes they dont like to mix and match. Say you have the Left and right ram slot. Does each single stick work alone in the left and the right slot? Sounds like you may have a dead ram slot.. :(

No display after upgrading RAM

Are you saying that there are only 2 slots for ram or 4, if 4 then you may have a dual channel lap top, in which case you need all of the ram to match, they all have to be the same exact ram.you cant mix and match, also is the bios recent, it sounds like you may need a bios flash if the laptop isn't recent. And there may be a limitation on the amount of ram it takes, I just setup a brand new acer and it only two gig max, see if they offer a bios update

You can use even 1 stick of 2GIG of RAM or 2 X 1GIG of RAM or any combination will do for as long it will just be a max of 2GIG since that's the max support of your motherboard....
