>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>- --> Troubleshooting: Image Quality for Cameras logiteck quickcam communicate - trnsp.gif Detailed Description This article covers some standard troubleshooting for issues such as fuzzy, grainy, out-of-focus or off-color camera images. trnsp.gif Answer The information in this article applies to the following software
QuickCam 9.x and below
ImageStudio 7.x and below
Many factors can affect the image quality of your pictures. If you are experiencing blurry images, please try adjusting the focus ring located around the lens. This will allow you to focus the camera image on objects at different distances. Also, make sure there is good lighting. Improving the lighting conditions can improve the image quality considerably.
Connection Issues:
If the image quality is poor while transmitting video over the Internet using video enabled programs such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo! or AOL Instant Messenger, your connection speed to the Internet directly affects the image quality of the transmitted video. Corporate LAN, DSL/cable modem connections will result in the best image quality experience, while dial-up connections may result in choppy and overall poor quality because of the slower connection speed. Even broadband connections such as DSL/cable modem may experience choppy video at times because of Internet traffic or slow upload speeds. If the image appears clearly in the camera software, most likely your Internet connection may be responsible for the poor image quality in your video program.
Changing Display Adapter Settings:
If you are still experiencing a distorted, fuzzy or grainy image, you may need to change the settings for your display adapter. For optimal image quality, please make sure the video display adapter is set to display at least 16-bit high color or higher. To change the color palette please perform the following steps:

  1. Click on "Start," "Settings," and "Control Panel."
  2. Double-click on the Display icon.
  3. Click on the tab labeled Settings.
  4. In the dialog box labeled Color Palette, verify the video mode is set to 16-bit (high color) or 24-bit (true color).
  5. Also, check with the manufacturer of the video card for updated video drivers.
Low Light Boost:
If you cannot do anything to improve the lighting situation, some Logitech video cameras have an option for "Low Light Boost." If there is an option for "Low Light Boost," try enabling the "Low Light Boost" in the QuickCam software. To do this:
  1. Open the QuickCam software.
  2. At the bottom right hand corner of the camera image box, click on the arrow next to the QuickCam icon.
  3. Choose "Advanced Camera Settings".
  4. Under the Image Enhancement box, place a check mark in the "Low Light Boost" option.
  5. If that does not improve the image quality, try adjusting the other image settings, such as contrast, saturation brightness, gain and white balance.
  6. Click OK when your are done.

I have 39 inch proscan model plded3996a and the picture is flicker everything else work fine

Flicker to picture can be adjusted. To some sets, you have to adjust it at its main power supply regulator section [there will be flicker adjustment preset]; and to some others, you have to enter its service mode option to adjust this. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Type in the phrase 'Flicker adjustment' or "Flicker" in the search box [at the top right] of the display window and the Search will start at once as you type in, and will show you all the related posts. It will make surf easy.

The garage door closes and then the door reopens.

If the door is hitting the floor and then opening it is traveling to far. Locate the 'down limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn this control a bit in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will probably be necessary.

If the main light is flashing 10 times and the door is reversing it is a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have a bad sensor.

If the main light is flashing 10 times when you try to close the door it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the small light on each one is lit, not flickering and that one is not dimmer than the other. Tweak them a bit if necessary.

My webcam is not working. it shows no picture.

Try attaching it to another computer if you have on, if it still shows no picture then it means the webcam has a hardware failure. If that is the case please contact logitech at: 646-454-3200

If it does work, that means your software needs to be reinstalled on your main computer.

My garage door does not stay down. Oonce it is about 4 to 5 inches from the ground it goes immediately up. It is a Sears Craftsman.nn

If when the door reverses the main light flashes 10 times it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the sensors are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them if necessary.

If the main light doesn't flash try increasing the down force which is an adjustment on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go.

The picture is really grainey

A lot of the cheaper web-cams suffer from this problem.

Most will only do 640x480 resolution which is quite low.

However it may be possible to improve the look of the picture a little by adjusting the lighting. (maybe a desk light or small halogen)
You may have to play with where you put any lighting to get best effect.

Low or poor lighting tends to emphasize the grainier look

The web can also has a software control panel and by tweaking the settings a little you may be able get a picture you are happy with.

You have to remember that your model has limitations.

If the main light is flashing 10 times when the door reverses it is the door sensors. Most likely misaligned. Each of them should have a small light that is lit and not flickering. Usually a little tweaking will fix the problem.

Multiple screen coming up in black and white also flickering on and off

I have a logitech quickcam E3500
I have 4 black & white images

I tried downloading older and newer versions of the software, no joy.

From the logitech site, I found this fix:

Go to Start>Run, type "dxdiag", wait for the application to show, then go to the "Display" tab and disable Direct3D acceleration or Directdraw acceleration. Exit. That's all.

I tried it and it works a treat.
