When you first switch on Does it show Benq?If not the inverter circuit has failed. If you are technically able you can try resoldering transistors on inverter board. If your display is black all of the time transistors could have failed as also related fuse etc.
And yes please check with BenQ Normally these have a 3 year warranty.

Monitor blue light comes on, the picture is on for a brief second but screen goes black, how do I fix this problem please.

I have had this problem before and had to contact the manufacturer. I was able to send them back and the manufacturer sent me a replacement. If your monitor is under warranty it should not cost you anything.

Darkened screen as you describe indicates a failing inverter. You can test this easily by plugging the laptop into an external monitor, if this works ok, then the inverter needs replaced, If it does not work, the problem is with the graphics chip / motherboard

I have the Dell 1525. The screen is black with only the cursor appearing. Please advise

Check to see if you have the machine switched out to a stand alone monitor. This is a feature on many lap tops that lets you re-direct the signal out to a larger monitor, or if your monitor fails you can display the computer info on another screen. This feature is engaged by holding down the Fn key and tapping teither the F4, or F6 key on many lap tops. This feature can be toggled by both displaying at the same time or switched to the stand alone or the Lap top.

The other cause is that the machine has malfunctioned usually because of the CPU failure and there is nothing to boot the machine up.

I have held down Fn and F4 to restore my image to my lap top screen- many times, but the screen remains blank

If you have diverted the screen output to an external monitor or a TV, turn off the computer then disconnect the TV or monitor and turn computer back on again. The computer LCD is the default screen.

Power Light on but screen black

Try powering up with no battery connected. If that works then the battery may be faulty or too old.

Not able to connect my lap top to to the monitor

the laptop should have a special area under display properties and goto settings you should see 2 screens if not it might need the top addres bar settings change and you will have to choose which screen is the primary and secondary and if you click to verify the screens the screens should have a number of which is the primary is 1 and secondary is 2 on the screen and if you have the icon to change these setting near the clock then try right clicking it and it should be up a option screen and it should should have the option to output to monitor and screen....
