Question about Portable Televisions

SUPER clogged drains

I have 2 problems: My shower drain is clogged to the extent that I have to take fast showers so it doesn't run over onto the floor. I've tried 2 different kinds of drain-o, the big bottles, and it didn't do anything. I can't take off the drain cover and use a snake or hanger, in my case, because the screws are so rusted that there is nowhere to fit the screwdriver.
The second problem is the "main drain", I guess, which is in the basement, is clogged because every time I use the dishwasher, it flows down to the basement drain and then that drain backs up and floods the basement. I found some drain cleaner that looks like broken up cement left by the landlord and used more than enough and it's still clogged!! I'm just trying to fix it myself but it looks like the only way to get this solved is by calling a plumber. Just thought I would see if there was anything else I could do before calling in a plumber. Thanks.

About all you could do is rent an electric snake and clear the main drain. The shower drain line (if you follow it) may also have a port to use a snake.

Good luck!

Champion 3500 watt generator shuts down after 1 min. Not low on oil!

You have a carburetor problem. Stuck float or clogged filter. Gas cannot get into the carb as fast as it is used. Letting it sit for a few minutes will allow the bowl to fill.

Some of their very old sets the video input was located on channels in the 90's; Try scrolling down from 99 to 90 to see if you locate the video input; this is just the way they did things in the older sets.

I only get 3 channels--and none of them I want! Does this TV only work with a cable attached? Which doesn't make it portable!

If you live in the US and the TV doesn't have the newer ATSC (digital) tuner, you're lucky to get 3 channels! The only analog broadcasts left in the US are "low power" & "translator" stations. The old NTSC analog tuners in TV's from just a few years back have little to tune since broadcasters have been moved and changed from analog to digital as directed by the FCC in 2009.

I hope this helps & good luck. Please rate my reply. Thank you.

The regulator IC always damage even if we are replace another regulator IC together with the resistor .47ohms..

You need to check the drain into the circuit as the regulator fails ONLY when the current drain exceeds the limit and thereby damages the fusible0.47 resistor.
Either you can use a higher rating of the regulator or you need to check the drain current to see if any component is faulty.

26" 720p HDTV/DVD COMBO will not eject disk

First you do is to unplug the cord of your DVD unit for 5 hours in order to drain the stored current, the purpose is to reset the unit. After the 5 hours plug the DVD see to it if it open If not, just try to press down on the stop button and pressing eject button at same time and it will unlock the tray .Then the other option is to open the cover of the DVD unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electricshock . When open already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the DVD player and you will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc platter. When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly. If you do already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn’t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There’s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also.

Hope it may help you;

Are there converters 4 hand held casio 880B

I have my handheld Casio TV-980 up and running with a converter box. All I needed (in addition to the converter box and standard rabbit ears [UHF/VHF] antenna) was an adapter with an F jack on one end and a 1/8" plug on the other (Radio Shack catalog # 278-257, about $5). The 1/8" plug on the adapter goes in the external antenna jack on the TV, and the other end connects to the coaxial cable that goes to the TV (RF out) jack on the converter box. The adapter would have been a little cheaper at my local, independent electronics store, but they were sold out.

If your antenna has flat 300 ohm wire connections, you'll need a balun (Radio Shack catalog # 15-1297, about $8) to connect it to the coaxial cable that goes to the Antenna (RF in) jack on the converter box.

I’ve tried 2 different converter boxes with the handheld TV, and they both work well: Insignia (Best Buy’s house brand, same as Zenith) and RCA (from Target, same as Venturer), so any government coupon-eligible converter box should work.

A few other tips:

1. I always turn on the converter box before I turn on the TV. The cpnverter box seems to take control better that way.

2. When I turn on the TV, the tuner doesn’t automatically go to channel 3 or 4 (where it should be set when using a converter box), and the picture quality is poor. If I use the tuner on the TV to get to channel 3 or 4, the picture quality is vastly improved. I have to do that every time I turn on the TV.

3. Placement of the antenna is very important. I like to watch my handheld TV when I'm on the computer, and the reception is better the further away from the computer the antenna is located. I'm actually using a 6' coaxial cable for the antenna, but I could also have used 2 shorter cables with a coupler that has an F jack at both ends (Radio Shack catalog # 278-304, about $3).

If your battery-operated TV does not have an external antenna jack, instructions for connecting it to a converter box can be found at

There are a few battery-operated converter boxes available, but for do-it-yourselfers, this web page also contains instructions for building a 12-volt converter box power supply.
