Question about Sony KDL-32M3000 32 in. LCD Television

Normal Picture Mode Not Available With Cox HD-DVR (Motorola DCH3416) and HDMI Cable

I have the Sony Bravia 32" Set (KDL-32M3000) connected to a Motorola DCH3416 HD DVR unit.

I have the DVR unit connected to the TV with an HDMI cable, and the TV is unable to show the "Normal" picture mode.

The only available screen formats are Wide, Wide Zoom and Full. Of these, none represent an HDTV signal to fit the screen appropriately.

When I access the TV's menu system, I cannot change to Normal. It's in the menu options, but that particular option is grayed out.

What options exist?

When I connected to the Comcast Cable HD signal box, the screen always has a black border on all four sides. I can select the zoom and normal picture features, but there is always a black border. The tv will not go to full screen.

With an HDMI cable connected, the cable box determines the picture size. The settings on the cable box must be changed in order for you to get the correct picture size. I have some experience with Motorola cable boxes; usually to access the settings you turn the box OFF and then press the menu or settings button on the box to bring up the display menu. Hope this helps!

With my Sony Bravia 46" xbr the screen keeps cutting out. I'm usig hdmi cables and can't find a reason why te tv keeps cutting out. The sound still remains but picture doesn't. Not even out technician can...

Usually this happens to my set when I am in HD cable channel mode after being on a non-digital ANALOG channel.

I basically reset the TV by changing to a DIGITAL cable channel -- stay on that channel for ten-twenty seconds -- then I switch back DIRECTLY to a HD channel (key in channel number directly on remote).

TV works fine -- seems to be a glitch when the TV changes modes from Analog to HD

1.This issue sounds as though the TV connection circuit has an issue.

I have a sony bravia kdl 37m3000. We have cable and the wide screen would not go away so we unplugged the cable to reset the tv. Now the cable and the tv comes on but no picture.

Make sure you change the input that the cable is coming in on, If you was watching in HD mode then you was using an HDMI or compontet hook up.Look on tv remote for Video input button to select the componet input 1 or 2 or HDMI inputs which it is connected to. Look for a button on the remote called TV/VIDEO or INPUT

Cannot fill screen with normal picture size setting

assuming you all have comcast and using an hdmi cable
first access menu (hit it twice) and go to set picture format, choose passthrough....or in your case auto hdmi

then turn box off, press guide and info on the front of the box, proceed through the setup, advanced is more in depth..lol...

select 1080, 720, and then either the standard or widescreen 480s to your liking.....

voila....

now check your tv settings to accommodate
