Hi binoop, your OptiPlex 160L uses the Intel 3D Extreme Graphics 845G driver. The link below shows the specifications
for your OptiPlex 160L.
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/op160L/en/ug/specs.htm#1136371

Before attempting to install Intel's driver software you'll need to un-install your current video driver software. If that software is not listed in Add/Remove programs than un-install in the following manner.
Click start, open control panel, open System, click on Hardware tab, click on Device manager. Go to & open Display adapters.
Right click on the current display adapter once, than left click uninstall in the pop-up window. DO not re-start your PC.....

Go to this link for Intel's video drivers for Windows 98se. ( download number 1.)
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=865&OSFullName=Windows*+98+SE&lang=eng&strOSs=18&submit=Go%21
Creat a folder on your desktop & save the file there. The file is
win9x1361.exe. After install you can re-start your system.

Give these a try & post back if you have a problem.

Good luck & kind regards.

That's not surprising..many of the drivers for 98 went unsupported when MSoft dropped it's own support for that platform.

time to migrate folks.

On playing audio a message displays there is no audio device are installed,on trobulshooting error 43 shows.i m using win 7ultimate

Check the drivers, Go to Control panel, select Device manager and browse the list for anything out of the ordinary, like a sub menu at one side. Go into the sub menu and click Refresh Driver and check for conflicts. Windows should be able to detect and fix conflicts.
If that is no good, go to the manufacturers web site and download the lates drivers as Windows 7 requires updates.
Hope this helps.

I have a Compaq Vista Home Basic desktop set up to a Linksys router for my PS2, PS3 and Wii. I want to set up a second desktop computer (Windows98) that will be wireless also. How do I do that? Thank...

a win98 machine will likely have a rg-45 plug in the back, it's unlikely that may come with wireless network card. just use a straight through cable (the typical network cable) to physically connect the win98 machine to your linksys router, if you don't have any special security on your router, your win98 should be connected after a few seconds.

if you are getting a network card (possilby wireless):
install a network card on your windows 98 computer. if you're buying one make sure in the package says that it is supported by win98 (most are supported in win2k, xp, vista and 7 now so look closely before buying),

if you already have a network card and you are trying to install it, look for proper drivers from the network card manufacturer (drivers need to match model number and operating system(win98)). install your network card as per indicated in package or website if you are downloading drivers.

if you are connecting wirelessly, assuming that drivers are properly connected look in the network manager you just installed and look for the network name for your linksys router (whatever you configure that to be when your first install the linksys router) and attemtp to connect providing a password or any security requested.

in a nutshell that's what you need to do!
