I moved to Australia and brought my US Xbox 360. I plugged it in with a power adapter which I thought was a power converter and heard a sudden explosion. I want to know if it only ruined the Xbox's...

There is no way to tell without taking your system to a repair shop or sending it in to Microsoft for repair. There is a definite chance that your system survived, but there is also a very real chance that it did not. If you can get a hold on a new AC adapter you would be able to get an idea, but even if the system powers on, there is a chance that something is still damaged. I would say your best bet is to send it in to Microsoft either way just to make sure you don't have any big problems down the road, but it is definitely possible that everything may work and you will never have problems again. It's just luck-of-the-draw sometimes.

My PS3 wont connet to the power, it turns on for a few seconds, and then it will disconnect from them power and turn off

Sounds like the Red light of death. Which is a problem with the graphics card. It can be fixed but don't take it to a 2bit computer repair shop that say they'll fix it for £60. The equipment needed for the repair costs thousands, (Infra red heat technology). Chances are they won't have one. Which model do you have, It was a very common problem with the original 60gb ps3's, also the 40gb with the loud fan noise are prone to the red light of death. Sony offer a refurb model for around £130. Hope this helps.

Playstaion 3 turnindg itself off!!

by "turns itself off " do you mean.....
you press the power button, it beeps to come on and then the light changes color to yellow and beeps few more times and finally has the blinking red light. if this is the case

what you got is what is know as yellow lite of death --YLOD

this is the site i got the info from...

and you are not the only one to experience this. more and more ps3 owners are getting hit with this problem. your best bet will be to send it off to sony if its under warrenty for they'll fix it for free. but be cautious of this for they may even replace your system and you may not get your original system back. if its not under warrenty you'll get hit with an $150 charge. you can check youtube for videos on how to open up/fix your ps3. look for videos "YLOD FIXES" i get people telling me that their system only works for few days to few month so i have to assume that the fix is not a permanent. last i checked i think sony only cover your system for 30 days if they fix it. there are also guides you can buy.

The YLOD is a major hardware failure for the PlayStation 3. The specific cause is somewhat known, but Sony has not commented about this failure whatsoever. Some theories for the cause include:

overheating (accelerated by dust build-up), blu-ray drive failure, bad power supply, and/or a hard drive critical error.

According to an eBay store that repairs YLOD PS3's, the hardware failure is caused by either/or of two things:

1. Hardware malfunction on the motherboard due to heating/cooling (solder physically cracking/breaking) which can be fixed by "reflowing", which is a fancy way of using a machine that has a super controlled (+ or - .5 degrees) hot air nozzle to re-melt the solder on the base of the defective chip to re-attach it.

2. The power supply has the failure in one of its capacitors or diodes. This can also be fixed by "reflowing" but it is harder to diagnose due to the need to chase down which one it is.

**According to this eBay store, this scenario is a much more difficult way to repair PS3's with the YLOD. They state they can only repair 8 out of 10 PS3's with the YLOD**

You know you have received the YLOD when the following occurs:

* You power on the console.
* The console starts up normally for about 2-3 seconds,
* The console beeps 3 times while flashing a faint yellow light,
* The console continues to flash a red light

Ds lite wont turn on and when plugged in light flashes

If the power light only stays on for a second then chances are that the internal fuse has blown (F2).

If you have a warranty then send it off to them for a repair (although chances are there will be a fee due to most warranties not covering liquid damage).

Failing that you can send it to a local repair service... there are many good ones avaliable on ebay.

Or if you have moderate soldering skills and fancy doing a bit of DIY repairing I have written a few guides that will be of great help to you.

You can get the fuses from ebay for a very reasonable price, you will also need a few other tools to take the DS lite apart such as:
a cross head precision screwdriver,
a precision tri-wing screwdriver (avaliable on ebay)
a soldering iron,
craft knife,
and tweezers.

I would also suggest giving the motherboard a bit of a wipedown with an alcohol based solvent such as "methylated spirit" or "white spirit" just to clean off any chocolate milk residue.

Here are the guides:
DS lite dismantle guide
DS lite fuse replacement

Hope this helps, if you need any further assistance you may require please feel free to contact me.

When i try to turn on my psp it doesnt work. the light comes for a few seconds a and turns back off. The screen doesnt work too. ITS all black. Last thing i remeber i downloaded something and tried to...

Try to performa a Hard Reset:

1- make sure the battery is fully charged.
2- Hold the power switch to on (up) for at least 10 seconds.

3. switch it back on. (sometimes you have to do it twice, but for now just try doing that one time).

If that doesn't work, try Holding the Power on for 20 to 30 seconds.

If that doesn't work remove the battery overnight.

or try another battery (it could be dead/defective/dead cells, etc.)

Red light on power supply on. Nothing happening on the x box console. dead.

The blinking red light usually indicates hardware failure. If your Xbox is still under warranty you should contact microsoft have them send you a box with free postage and send them your console. They will locate and fix the problem for you.

If your console is not under warranty anymore there are a few things you can try.

First remove the hard drive and try booting up your console. If it says no drive found shut the console down and put the hard drive back into place. If it works after that then the issue was just a drive error which is now corrected. If the light is blinking again then the drive itself is bad.

Second turn the xbox off for 60 seconds by using the switch on the back. Now hold down the eject button and turn the power switch back on while your still holding the eject button. This can help with overheating issues.

If these simple fixes dont resolve the problem then you will need to contact microsoft and ask about repair cost's. As fixing it yourself would require experience in working on gaming consoles.
