It is most likely time to decalcify the machine. If you haven't made a regular practice of this, a cocoon of mineral deposits has encased the heating element causing it to struggle to warm the water adequately even as it overheats itself. If one or more decalcifications using white vinegar and the instructions in your owner's guide fail to improve the situation, the thermostat may be faulty. Contact BUNN for toll-free support:
