Good day,
Remove the 2 screws on the bottom of the front panel. Pull forward and down to remove being careful with the wires from the door switch.
You will see what has to be removed to slide the belt over the drum.
The belt is installed upside down. That is, the smooth side down.
Reinstall components to hold the drum in place.
Go to the rear and remove the access panel on the bottom right to attach the belt to the idler.
Installing the belt to the idler and motor pulley can be confusing, but Maytag supplies a picture on the bag how to. Be patient.
Once on, slowly rotate the drum to allow the belt to center (important) and finish putting the front panel on.

Hi, I have a Maytag gas dryer MDL# LDG8200AAW and its great my wife would not trade it for one of the new ones at all. The problem that I'm having with the dryer is that it drys the clothes but it does not...

Correct, Your belief is wrong! Your wife's belief is correct, the best dryer ever made!
If this happens only when you are using it on an auto setting then it is probably an air-flow problem,a dirty exhaust system. Clean it out!

I have a maytag ldg8200aaw gas dryer. it works and will dry clothes well but makes an extremely loud grinding noise as the drum turns...sometimes it even seems as if it is not engaging...I am trying to...

Your dryer is definitely worth fixing. The blower wheel is plastic 53-0106, These will wear out and get loose. Make noise and the clothes take a long time to dry. Repair Photosa9a0520.jpg

My dryer is making a high pitched squeal?

it could be the rear drum bearing, the front drum glides/rollers or the drum belt is glazed,or the tensioner for the belt needs replacement, all of which require you to remove the front cover by removing the lower front panel screws near the floor, then lift up front cover like a car hood and there are spring clips that will let go, then remove top cover these screws are underneath top cover in front and you can replace those items

How do you pop off the top of the dryer?..is it bolted in any way

Hello.

Reomve the door from the unit and the plastic peices from the other side in the same spot as the hinges. Remove the front panel. You will see one metal peice on each side that hooks the top on. Remove the screws and the metal hooks. The top will lift up now.

Maytag electric dryer mod#DE612 series02

U might want to look on the back of the dryer to see if there is a panel to take off. If not the hole top will have to come off. Is the top made on the rest of the dryer or is there a split between it.
