Plastic Rollers for bottom dish rack in Viking Professional

There are several missing rollers (about 1 inch in diameter) on the lower rack in my Viking Professional dishwasher. These rollers snap on and off so I think there should be replacement rollers. Where can I find replacement rollers?

SOURCE: my viking dishwasher does not rinse the soap scum off the dishes

Its not soap, its actually calcium from hard water. There is a new product out at www.dishwasherfilter.com that solves this problem once and for all. It is a small filter that goes under the sink and filters out the hard minerals that cause these spots from the water before they enter the dishwasher. It is very affordable (like 70 bucks) and even has a money back guarantee. After just one load you will be amazed how your dishes look.

How to replace the top rollers on a GE dishwasher model # gsm1800nww

Lower Rack

  • Remove all of the dishes from the lower dishwasher rack.
  • Pull the lower rack out of the dishwasher so that it rests on the dishwasher door.
  • Lift the lower rack up and out of the dishwasher.
  • Place the new lower dishwasher rack on the dishwasher door, then push it into the dishwasher.
  • Upper Rack
  • Remove all of the dishes from the lower dishwasher rack.
  • Extend the upper rack as far as it will go.

Remove the two plastic end caps, located on the end of each dishwasher arm. To remove, insert a flat-head screwdriver between the arm and the tab on the outside of the end cap, then lift the tap to remove the end cap.
Pull the upper dishwasher rack straight of out the arms to remove.

Insert the rollers on the bottom of the new upper dishwasher rack into the rack arms, then push the rack completely into the dishwasher.
. Align the end caps with the ends of the arms, then push the end caps into place.

2 upper rack rollers cracked in Maytag #MDB7600AWS - cant find simple replacement rollers for inside track - 1 1/4" - of upper rack.

JP Weld works great on repairing these junky Maytag parts. Note that they don't have a replacement for these upper wheels and a guy is selling expensive stainless steel replacements. The round connector broke off of ours that holds the wheel to the rack. My wife found a plastic button that fit within the space and we glued it with JP Weld epoxy (water and temperature resistant). 10 washes later, still working great! I expect it will "heal" any other plastic parts. NEVER will I buy a Maytag again!

Maybe . . . remove the lower rack and invert it. Look for cracked or missing plastic coating, exposed, rusted & possibly "swollen" inner steel rod/wire. If found, remove the upper rack and look for more of the same. What you think is "soap scum" is probably rust and other iron compounds leached by the dish soap out of the rusted steel onto the dishes and the dishwasher interior. The following worked for me . . .

To clean the interior (with both racks removed), set to "No Heat" dry, then "Pot & Pan" wash and allow to fill. Open door, dump in a bottle of "Lime A-Way", close & latch door and allow to complete cycle. This should remove most rust and iron-sulphate deposits from interior. If not, scrub them with Lime A-Way and a ScotchBrite pad, then cycle again.

Racks must be replaced (Viking are very expensive, Asko, Bosch, or other lower racks may fit: check your neighbors' racks for fit), upper rack must be Viking unless you can exact-match the Asko or Bosch equivalent.

Possible fix: remove the loose plastic coating and flaking rust with a knife, ruff plastic coating with ScotchBrite, clean with rubbing alcohol, then treat metal/rust with "rust converter" (hardware or home imp store), wash with soapy water, rinse, then clean with rubbing alcohol, dry fully, coat with "high temp" (orange or yellow) silicone sealant (auto part store), covering exposed metal and a half inch or so over the plastic coating. Let set for a day or two.

A trip through the dishwasher for all your stained stainless, glasses and non-metallic coated or non-metallic decorated dishes with Lime A-Way as above (on new or "rebuilt" racks) should get the metallic scum and rust off them.

GE Adora Dishwasher Upper Rack Binding Issue

I have a GE Profile model PDW7800.... and just replaced the rollers on one side since one of them had broken. There is a 'magical' way to reinstall the rack so the side guides ride inside the roller guides without touching. I suspect that the rack has not been reinstalled in the precise manner - which I am still trying to figure out. The new roller assembly which attach to the rack fit differently than the original ones. I found that you do have to remove the rollers screwed into the wall to get the glides out and that could also cause rough gliding. Part of the 'binding' is designed, I believe, to keep the racks from coming out too easily.

I have a dishwasher that seems like it wont fill, there is no kink in the pipe and Ive checked the filters they are not blocked?

Take out lower dish rack, look for float switch, usually a plastic cover about 1 1/2 to 2 inch diameter, 2-3 inch tall. move float up and down gently to check movement, use old toothbrush to clean around.
If this doesn't work, you may have to flush the inlet line where the hot water comes into machine.(Mineral debis) Inlet valve/soliniod may be defective. When tested with Ohmmeter, and no resistance is found, unit is defective, replace valve. I hope this helps.

hi Problems with the dish racks usually occur because the racks have been jammed back into the tub housing after they're fully loaded. Careless handling can exert enough force to crack or break the roller wheels or throw the racks off the tracks. The solution is easy: Stop jamming the racks.
The repair is easy, too. Remove the racks by pulling out the tiny metal pins that hold them in the tracks. Or simply lift up on the racks and pull them out of the tracks. Then reinstall the racks on the tracks so that they roll smoothly. If the rollers are cracked or broken, replace them with new ones of the same type. The rollers may be friction-fit to their hubs. Pull them off for replacement. Or, if they are held by tiny spring clips, pull the clips out with pliers, or pry them out with the tip of a screwdriver. If you can't pull the rollers off for replacement, remove and replace the entire rack.

The bottom rack of the dishwasher is always coming off the "track" or what passes for one. The wheels seem too small or the rack isn't wide enough Makes it very diificult to push in or pull out.

A noisy wash cycle or water that won't drain are problems that, for the most part, can be handled yourself. We'll discuss how you can pinpoint these water-related problems in the next section.

Replacing Rollers on GE 725

Hi bklink_2000,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: Now that you have the rollers you can't see how to get the old ones out or the new ones in. You are worried that if you forced the plastic piece out at the front of the steel rail you may bend the rail.

You're on the right track! The plastic end caps should pop off, that,s what they're for.

Only some cups on top rack are getting cleaned

It sounds as if you have some rollers missing on the bottom rack which lets the rack sit on the sprayer therefore not letting it spin. You should have 4 rollers on front and 2 on back of rack. If you are missing two on one side, take one from the other side until you can get some more. Just make sure you have a roller on all four sides of the rack
