Question about GE PDS20MBS Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

GE PDS20MBS One of our milk bottles was leaking and a 1/3 gallon of milk dripped into the opening on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator in the right rear corner (looks like where air either comes in or is pulled out). We smelled a burning odor as if the milk had fried a circuit, but after an hour the refrigerator seemed to work as normal. However, after a couple of days our kitchen started to smell like rotten food, we think it's from the milk that spilled into the compressor area and is rotting. How do we clean it? Is there a pan at the bottom where the milk would drip into?

Well it didnt get into the compressor area, but it definalty spilled in to evaporatr area, and landed on defrost heater. so yea your smelling boiled spoiled milk!!!mmmmm!!!! you would have to rermove back panel of freezer compartment to fully see the extent of spillage, as far aswhat got under refirig into drain pan, you can problably pull unit forward and remove back panel look into pan for spillage.
compressor would'nt be affected

Why won't door on Samsung side-by-side refrigerator stay closed? Pops open after closing, like the seal isn't working.

The door isn't lining up right when it's closed. I suspect you have been putting heavy stuff on the door racks, like several 2 liter soda bottles or gallon jugs of milk. Over time the door will sag from the weight until it won't stay closed.

On our GE refrigerator, water leaks out of the bottom of the frame for the water/ice dispenser and down the front of the freezer side door. What could be causing this?

Did you just recently change your water filter? you need to flush 3 gallons of water out of it when changing the filter. if there is air in the line it'll drip constantly. If your ice door isnt closing all the way and properly sealing that also could be a source of water dripping. do you have a low of "Snowy" frost inside your freezer door at the ice dispenser shute?

Water dispenser leaking not from water dispenser but to the right of it almost like condensation dripping

This happens in the case of a newly-installed filter cartridge. What you can do is run water from the dispenser for 3 minutes (about dispenser one and a half gallons).

You can boost ice production by cleaning the fins below. The better air circulation around the compressor the better performance you get. The water filter may need replacing. The water valve may need replacing. I have the same ice box as you and have not noticed a problem with the shelves. You can adjust shelf heights you know.

The drip tray is blocked, open your door, about half way down at the back you can see the drip try, on the Right hand side there is a hole where the water drains, poke a plastic straw down there to clear.

Tenants have broken every door shelf rack

For the GE refridgerator, the model GTS22 is an incomplete model number. That is actually the series number. Your actual model should be followed by 5-7 more letters, as in GTS22FBPBRWW. The full model number denotes dates, dimension, color, etc. You can find the full model number in one of two places:
A) Upper front left corner of the food compartment
B) Left side of the crisper pan on the food liner (with storage drawer open).

Once you find the correct model number, it is important to decide exactly which parts you need. Each door shelf comes in 3 pieces. You have two end caps (left and right) and then the front piece. For the bottom shelf, the end caps are different than the caps for the top and middle shelf. Also, do you need the dairy door and the butter dish? A schematic drawing can be most helpful.

When you know which parts you need, you can go online to www.partstore.com or call toll-free 866-925-PART (7278).

Fridge not staying cold

Milk is a very delicate product. If you store it on an upper shelf it will not stay as cold as storing it on a lower shelf. The temperature you quoted for the refrigerator is satisfactory. Making sure the condenser under the back behind a removable panel will help the system run more efficiently and save on your electric bill also. Also behind the veggie drawers on the left bottom of the refrigerator compartment is a vent which returns the air from the refrigerator to the freezer to be cooled. Check and make sure there is nothing obstructing the air flow at that point.
