Big problems in Brazil!

Hi,

I bought this phone about a year ago, with the idea of using it to travel with. I'll spare the past episodes, but when I arrived here in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil about 5 days ago, I went directly to a reputable place to buy a local SIM chip, since I'd had my phone unlocked before leaving the States. The carrier is called Vivo, and after they installed the chip, my phone saw the network and listed it (Vivo) on the main screen.

Everything was going well. I was able to make and receive local calls, which is exactly what I wanted to do. The only thing I was having trouble with was the Voice Mail (or Caixa Postal as they call it here). They told me I had to wait a few days and then it would activate. (Sounds strange, but Brazil's a unique place.

Then, all of a sudden this morning, I get a message whenever I try to use the phone that says "Emergency calls only" in English. The carrier Viva is no longer listed on the main screen, and I'm unable to make or receive any calls at all. When people call me, they are sent immediately to Voice Mail, which of course, I can't access.

I'm going to be down here for a month, and I absolutely need to be reachable. Can ANYONE help me with this? I would be forever in their debt. Thanks for any advice,

Nela

I have not used the phone in many years. How do I find out what the Phone number is

Some phones have the ability to show you the number. Some require that the number is entered.

It's a good idea if you get a new SIM to make an entry A name of provider and a service number of the provider to the SIM. e.g. the first entry in my phone book is A *****. That way when I boot up the phone and press names/search/search the first entry will be that name. Of course you have to wait for the SIM to "warm" up before it can be used.

I bought this tv, more or less 4 years ago, and I'm live in brazil. So, when I got here the Tv was black and white, no color! What's wrong? Can we help me?

Depending on where the set was purchased (USA) it may be NTSC format and Brazil is likely to be different format like PAL or even Seacam---they do make converter boxes that will convert signal from one format to another.

I have a Quickfire GTX75 sold and configured to AT&T. But I traveled to Brazil and I'll stay here for a few months. I can only send messages and make calls. GPS, Internet, Bluetooth, everything...

Bluetooth should work fine, just pair it with your headset or hands free.

Make sure it's unlocked. GPS and internet require data, so make sure you buy a SIM card with data on it. Many SIM cards only have voice (minutes).

Good luck!

Mr ilo dvd R04 recorder is locked at the hello screen!!!!

The unit is not finishing the start up diagnostic. This could be forseveral reasons. The most common problem with the Ilo04 is power supply. On the power supply board check the two big capacitors to see if they are swollen or leaking. If so then change them and try that.
