Sticking Knob I have a Maytag Performa gas/electric range. Today when I turned the oven on the knob was stiff. It is only getting stiffer as the day goes on and we cook. Any ideas?

There is nothing to do other than replacing the burner switch, no rhyme or reason why it goes bad , but there is no adjustment

My right front burner does not work on low. it does not turn on until you turn the knob to about the medium setting

many burners have safety mechanism that shuts the flow of gas when it is cold. it is there to prevent the flow of gas in the case when the fire was put out by wind or split of water.
you didn't mention if after the fire is lighted, are you able to turn the knob back to low.

Old (30 yrs?) tappan gas range.loose oven knob

remove top of range, locate shaft from knob that is loose, there should be a nut where shaft goes into valve, tighten nut in small steps

Bottom oven is not working - I set it but it isn't heating at all. There are no errors being issued, no gas odor. The top oven is working fine

Hi, open oven door, remove last panel, you will see oven burner, check pilot, if you see a small tube, manually strick a match and light it, then turn oven knob to on position, but if there's no pilot tube, then you got electrical ignition, could be faulty thermostat(knob you turn to put oven on) or thermocouple(device where oven burner conected too) could be faulty. but first check your oven pilot, it should be always lighting, sometimes, they get blown out. good luck.

Calibration

Electric ovens are calibrated behind the temp knob. Pull the knob straight off of the shaft and look at the back of the knob. There should be a metal slide with a scale and a little set screw. Loosen the screw and move the slide in the direction indicated for your needs.
