If you are lucky, it's only a blown fuse. Some tv's this large have more than one fuse, so look real hard and find all fuses. If fuses are good, then about 95% of the time, when you have no picture/no sound, the problem is a bad H.O.T. This is a large transistor with three pins soldered into the main board and is very easy to find because it is connected to a metal "heat sink". Look for a large red or black wire coming from the pic tube down to the main circuit board (sometimes it's blue, but it's the only wire coming from the GLASS part of the tube to the board. This wire goes to about the largest component on the board called the "flyback transformer". It is usually black and is about 3 or 4 inches tall, 2 inches wide, and 2 inches thick. The h.o.t. will usually be located in the area of the "flyback". The h.o.t. will be screwed with one screw or clamped onto a large piece of metal (usually silver). This piece of metal is usually about 2 inces square and is about 1/8 of an inch thick and is mounted perpendicular to the main board. Imagine a slice of bread standing on one side rather than lying flat and this is what the heat sink looks like. Sometimes you will see several heat sinks with transistors screwed into them, but the one you are looking for will always be the largest transistor with three pins. Don't forget to unplug the tv before you begin and stay away from the large wire coming out of the tube going to the "flyback". Do NOT unplug this wire from the tube. It can shock you very badly EVEN WITH THE TV OFF FOR SEVERAL DAYS. Just be careful and go ahead and give this a try. You can do it, and this is probably going to fix your set. If not, then replace the flyback transformer. The H.O.T. is about $10 or $15 and the flyback can be from $30 to $80. It is possible that none of this will fix your set, but you have about a 95% chance that it will and with such a big and nice and relatively new set, I would give it a shot. Keever

The lamp has just been replaced and now the tv will only stay on for 30 minutes and then turn itself off. The lamp indicator light is red. We can turn the tv back on and the light goes off. Six months ago...

Did you press the System Reset button with a ball point pin on the front of the set? You might have a ballast going bad if it has never been replaced. But first, the reset button then you may have a thermal switch which is located just above the lamp housing. I test the thermal switches by unhooking (while set is unplugged) one of the wires and then putting an alligator clip jumper between the two wires to see if it last longer than the 30 minutes you mentioned. Lastly, there must not be any dust in and around the fan which can cause overheating. Sounds like you have an overheating problem initially. The thermal switch cuts the set off if there is overheating. And also if the switch is faulty it will cut off the set. Also look in the menu for a temperature setting if this model has a setting such as this.

How to reset the meter of lamp

You need to have your Panasonic remote.
1. Make sure the power cord is plugged into a properly grounded outlet and turn on the set with the power button on the projection unit or the remote control.

2. While holding down the (VOL -) key on the projection unit press the PIP or SPLIT key at the same time. Hold it for longer than 5 Seconds. The PIP or SPLIT key is model specific:

PIP for Models:
PT-50LC13/PT-60LC13/PT-50LCX63/
PT-60LCX63/PT-43LCX64/
PT-50LCX64/PT-60LCX64

SPLIT for Models:
PT-43LC14/PT-50LC14/PT-60LC14

3. When the unit resets the lamp timer it will display a screen on the TV indicating it was reset to zero. You press recall on the remote to exit.

Cable Connection Problem

I would suspect the setup of the Comcast STB. I assume it's Motorola. You need to set the output format for HD to 1080i and the 4:3 override to 480i. See:

There is a user convergence that you can do - instructions in the operating manual typically right after the section on Magic Focus, or you can do a DCAM convergence:

If this model has a "lint screen" or air filter, I would check to make sure the set is getting proper ventilation. Otherwise, you probably have a bad solder connection or capicators going bad, causing your symptoms. Hopefully you won't have to get a replacement Printed circuit board as they are quite expensive.

The place you purchase the set from has to help you or guide you in the right direction so you get the set service, if they dont tell them you will bring the setback to them for a refund or exchange, the manufacture is the responsible one but stores also have something to do.
