If:

You have a Resource CD: Place your CD in the CD ROM Reader and when you first start your computer begin tapping F12 until you get a screen wth 1-7 options i believe. Then find the option that says IDE CD-ROM Device. when you start that you will either gt the options to boot from Hard disk or CD rom device, select CD ROM Device or it will say "Prss any key to continue" hit entr. Then you get a screen with more options. Select whatever is "Open a DOS Session". Then don't worry about what it says. Now just start typing "FDISK" then it will say other stuff about having a bigger HD than 500 or somethingMB just hit "Y" then hit "ENTER" then do the same untill you get to another screen with MORE options. First hit the number 4 to view your partitions. Then select # 1 and it will say are you sure u want to delete Primary and select "Y" and hit "ENTER" or it will say no Primary found. Then hit 2 and delete "Extended" then hit "Y" for yes. Either of these could come back saying no primary or no extended found. Then after that hit "3" and it will createyou a new partition. It should ask you create primary? or create Extended? only create a primary. Then after you create it. Hit "Esc" untill you get to the main menu. Now insert your Operating System CD. If you run Windows XP insert the OS CD. Then power up and you can select Format my Hard Drive (Quick) and The CD does the rest.

No Resource CD: Please insert the OS CD and select the Format My Hard Drive. Do not select Quick. Since yu didn't "FDISK" you do it slower because you want to delete it all. Then the CD does the rest.

Please Note: When you first enter the formatting process at the bottom it will say things like f6 to repair and stuff. Don't bother with that stuff. It will automaticly take you to a screen wit a lot of words just simpily hit enter. After doing that on the OS Disk you should see the Partitioned Space or Un Partitioned Space. Delete the Partitioned by pressing the Down Arrow untill you highlight it and hit the letter "D" then on the next pagethe letter "L". Then it will take you to the screen you saw before. If you don't see any spaces press the letter "C" then highlight it and hit "ENTER" i believe. Twords the bottom of the screen you will see the options and what button to press.

How to remove a virus - free virus protection/removal software

How to Remove a Virus With Software Recommendations

In this tech article I will go over methods to protect and remove viruses from your computer. Viruses can cripple a computer and steal your personal information. You should protect your computer at all times and learn what and what not to do on the internet.

Free Virus Protection Tools
The following programs are free and highly recommended.

Spybot Search and Destroy - This tool will scan and clean your computer from spyware. It will also run actively in the background to protect against infection.

MalwareBytes - You can use MalwareBytes to remove all forms of viruses from your computer but it cost extra to have the real time protection. Nonetheless, a very good tool and free to use.

AVG Anti-Virus - The basic software is free and provides protection against viruses and spyware. It also has link scanning which can come in handy.

It is important to keep these software utilities up to date with the latest virus definitions needed to protect and clean your computer.

Removing Viruses

-If by some chance you are already infected or the programs happen to let your computer get infected(not likely) then you need to take certain steps in order to completely remove the virus. If you have System Restore active in Microsoft Windows, you can restore the computer to a state before the infection. Afterwards, do complete scans of the computer using the programs above.

-Malware will stop anti virus programs from running, and other basic computer functions needed to remove viruses like Task Manager and System Restore. If you are at a point of infection where you can't use any of your basic computer functions. You will need to boot the computer into Safe Mode without Networking(no internet). Once you boot into safe mode, run system restore or your virus removal programs.

-You can boot into safe mode by continually pressing F8 as the computer is booting up. Then choose the Safe Mode option.

-Be careful when using Facebook. There is a new trick going around to spread nasty viruses. Basically, the facebook app pretends to show you who your top friends are. There are no programs that can do this so if you see anything like this come your way, do not click it. Also, do not login to any facebook login except at the main facebook site. If you click on a link in facebook it may take you to a fake login page so be wary.

-Be careful when clicking attachments in emails. Only open attachments from people you trust. Be sure to scan the attachments before you actually run/open them on your computer.

-Be careful when downloading programs from websites you are not familiar with.

-Make sure to keep Microsoft Windows up to date. New viruses and exploits are created monthly and Windows updates is a first line of defense.

With these tools and tips, you should now be better protected against virus infection. Most likely you have a virus that is redirecting your inputs to places the virus wants you to go. First try to clear the history in your browser. If that fails, then run a deep virus scan on the unit to attempt to find and eliminate the problem.

I help how to remove trojan/other virus from my window 7 laptop.please help me.

Here's a fee-based service to do it for you:

http://us.norton.com/nortonlive/

To detect the threat level, you may want to try the free (& advertised on TV) web site
www.MySafePC.com, but virus removal will cost $$ - they're happy to tell you you're infected for
free, though.

Here's Symantec's list of things to do:

If you suspect that your computer is infected with a threat or you receive a threat alert, and you want to make sure that your computer is secure.

You can perform a virus scan to eliminate any known threat from your computer. Scanning your computer for threats is easy if you follow the step-by-step instructions provided in this article. The scanning process may take an hour or more, depending on the number of files you have on your computer.

To detect and remove all the threats from your computer, follow these five steps:

• Install the latest virus definitions.

• Stop all running programs and temporarily disconnect the computer from any network.

• Run the virus scan.

• Install the latest Windows updates.

• Run a full system scan once again to ensure that there are no threats.

The first step is to check whether you can install the latest virus definitions, as some threats may block your access to all the security products' Web sites including Symantec's Web site. The subsequent steps vary depending on whether you can download the latest definitions from the Symantec Web site or not.

I have something constantly poping up telling me I have a virus. It says it is Smart Engine Professional assistant for Windows PC. I don't see it in my list of programs, so I can't delete it, and I can't...

I suggest you install an anti-virus program, any viruses that infects a computer can damage your computer and programs, depending upon the type of infection.
The sooner you remove the virus the better.
There are commercial anti-virus programs available such as mcAfee and Nortons.
There are also freeware anti-virus programs, I recommend AVG.
Please click on this link to download AVG :-

Can go on youtube?

This issue occurs if the Computer is infected by any virus. Scan the Computer by any good Anti-virus/Internet Security application (Kaspersky or ESET or Norton) to detect and remove the virus.

If you very familiar with the Computer then:

Open the Task Manager, close (End Task) any unknown/malicious process running in background under your User Account (like svchost running under your User account only not under SYSTEM or LOCAL SERVICE).

Then try opening YouTube.

I suggest that you better scan your full Computer with any good and updated AntiVirus application to resolve the issue.

If the AntiVirus application is unable to detect any virus in the Computer then try opening the YouTube in the SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING to determine whether the Computer is infected with the virus.

If you are able to open the YouTube in the SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING then the Computer is definitely infected with virus then reinstalling the Operating System is the only option to remove the virus from the Computer to resolve the issue.

AMT MP3 PLAYER USB 2 DEVICE VIRUS PROBLEM

It could be that _your_ computer is virus-infected, and it tries to infect any device that you connect to your computer.

Find some other computer with "current" and "good" anti-virus software.

Connect the device to that computer.

The anti-virus software should both _detect_ and _remove_ the computer-virus from the device.

Then, on your computer, download and run the Microsoft MRT (Malware Removal Tool): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890830/

Also, on your computer, download and run the virus-scanner from: http://www.prevx.com
to "clean" your computer.

Then, once your computer is "clean", connect all the USB devices that you have, and virus-scan each one of them.

If your computer was infected then it is still infected unless you have used an anti virus program to remove the infection. After removing the virus you then can install xp. Hope this helps.

Computer is infected with viruses

Blue screens as a result of infection mean the virus has corrupted the operating system. You can fix it by doing an operating system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. Depending on the virus, this may only be a temporary fix. If this turns out to be a temporary fix, then the sure way to fix it is to completely wipe the hard drive, completely reformat using NTFS, and reload the operating system, which I would recommend. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the virus damaged the hard drive and it will need to be replaced.
