Yamaha rx 530 receiver

I have this ancient Yamaha rx-530 2 channel receiver that has been working great, but that I might have fried. I was trying to hook it up to a Radio Shack Accurian Powerline Digital Audio Sender, and I at first hooked it up wrong. The Accurian works, but the receiver sounds like it is turning on (I hear clicks when push the power button), but it won't light up, nor can I get anything to work with it. I know it is not worth the money to have it looked at, but should I just trtash it?
If so, any suggestions of what kind of receiver is a good buy.
Thanks for your help!

I am having the same problem with the same vintage RX-530.

I have the same receiver (I think it's a 1988) and the light stopped working also. I don't think you caused it from trying to hook it up wrong, because mine just suddenly went out a few days (I hadn't done anything to it). Supposedly, it's just a matter of replacing the lightbulb (very cheap). My electronics repair shop told me that if I just locate the lightbulb and show it to them, they'll be able to tell me where to purchase one.

Same problem, my 1989, same model, same manufacturer. No function light. All my components used to run on that. I had it, w/o using it for two years. Now, I am aware of it's having power and the click on turning it on, but no light. How frustrating is that?

I have the same exact problem, though I do have the original bulb. I THINK the part number is: VE628900. I need someone to replace it for me though! Not too sure, but I think you can get a similiar one (not in brightness, but in dimentions and voltage) at Radio Shack. I think it is 6 volt, but have NO clue if it is AC or DC.

I hate this damn website - it always logs me off after I've written something long, and no one ever has a solution. Anyway, yeah JeanBean, it's TOTALLY FRUSTRATING! I still have the original lamp, the thing is you have to hot solder it in place IF you can find a replacement bulb. However, so far, they are non-existent!

Yamaha rx 530 center channel cuts out

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I've tried using the balance for left and right speakers, and when the receiver is acting up with the right speaker having a low volume, I tried moving the balance all the way over to the right speaker. The right speaker volume will not increase in volume but the left speaker will decrease in volume.

Just to clarify, the center and the rear speakers are balanced. The issue only happens sometimes when I first power on the receiver I will have no center channel. If I leave everything alone for a few mins, the center channel will come on.

So it seems to me that something one the receiver is going. The question is, can anyone suggest a physical repair for the receiver for these symptoms?

Thanks

I have an (obviously) ancient but still reliable rx-v990 with the ddp 1. I would like to use it as part of a consolidated set-up with a samsung 550. any recommendations on making this work?

What's a Samsung 550 (no letters)?

The DDP1 is a Digitasl Processor, no amp.

The RX-V990 is an AVR receiver.

What role do you want each of these pieces to play?

The Front channel amps of the RX-V990 could be slaved to the DDP1 (or any other volume-controlled Line level source) by simply removing the jumpers in the RX's Front Pre Out/Main In and driving the Main In.

Yamaha RX-V3000's front channels quit working

The front channels could still go out if one of them
is going out as the relay will shut em both down if it senses a problem! Check also for bad solder connections too!

Most likely, one of the channels is blown, or you having power supply issue. It is hard to determine exact cause of the problem with out looking at the unit.
