Question about Canon GL2 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
One of the other boards suggested that the problem is with the 2 plastic gears that form part of the clutch mechanism. It gets fouled with sluff off from cheap tapes and slips. Go to Radio Shack and get a can of contact cleaner(spray alcohol and not tuner cleaner. tuner cleaner has a lubricant and defeats the purpose.) Cycle the loading mechanism to the open position and turn off the camera. Spray the contact cleaner onto the white plastic gears. Let sit for 20 sec and then blow dry on low heat with an ordinary blow dryer. It might take 2 or 3 cleanings but this will work. After that use only Sony Premium tapes.

I've had my GL-2 for about 3 years, and just recently started experiencing this problem. It happens when I flip the power saver switch off, then back on again. I've found that removing and reinstalling the battery lets me continue without ejecting and inserting the tape. I also just replaced the watch battery but I'm still getting the "eject" message when I use the power saver switch. I'm not looking forward to spending hundreds of dollars, but it "is" quite annoying.
