Samsung RS2530BSH side by side stoped cooling

We bought the fridge Nov 7 of 06. It is now out of the 1 yr warranty and it has stopped cooling. We have pulled all food out and defrosted the fridge/freezer in hopes it was that. After a night of being off, we plug it back in and the front display just flashes. I dont know why, but it seems like its not cooling now. Please help!!!

    My mom bought the same fridge model. She has had the same problems plus more. The freezer de frosts it self and then get so cold everything turns into a block of ice. The fridge temp goes up and down and the food goes bad after it has de frosted from freezing. I stayed the night once and the motor is so loud it doesn't let one sleep. Were you able to fix your problem?

    I have the same model and the compressor going on and off is driving me insane. I figured I would trust Samsung's good name, but what a disappointment it has been! I will definitely buy domestic next time. Still, I love my Samsung LCD.

You have most likely experienced defrost issues with this fridge in the past. If not...you will...I have had nothing but trouble with this since I bought it. OK...hold down the ICE TYPE button at the same time as the FILTER RESET button for 10 seconds. The fridge will power back on and begin to cool again. Now, this is not a quick fix, but a diagnostic test!! Your fridge could power back off and do the same thing in 12 hours. If this happens, notice and take note of the indication lights on the front. I have defrosted my fridge many times and then out of nowhere it did this too. The problem is most likely the defrost sensor and has most likely never worked correctly in the first place; otherwise, there would not be a need to defrost manually. (I think the part should have been recalled!!) Anyway, this will give you the information that you need to tell the repairman. Most likely, the defrost system (sensor) will need to be changed out at a cost of approximately $200-300 plus labor, but still cheaper than a new fridge. This method may be used over again to keep your food from spoiling until you can get a repairman out. You may have difficulty in finding a repairman and most companies have gone to servicing only American made products (due to the parts being hard to get). I recommend a Good Housekeeping dealer!!! Otherwise, you can contact Samsung at 1-800-Samsung and they can refer you to someone in your area who can fix your fridge.

My fridge smells fishy. It is perfectly clean and i have not had fish in there.


Bacteria will cause the smell. Make sure it is cold and put a box of baking soda open inside the fridge. It will absorb the odors. They sell baking soda with a mesh side specifically for your fridge.

Refrigerator model RS2530BSH- not cooling- started on freezer side- now refrigerator side not cool enough


It sounds like your condenser is faulty, or that there is a leak in the refrigerant line.

Motor stopped running days after move


Unfortunatly in most cases it is more expensive to fix than replace. A compressor change is at least 3 hours. The other cost include the compressor, drier, recovery machine, recovery cylinder, silver sodder, torch fees, and so on. The compressor will likely cost around $300. A used fridge in the paper can cost less then $200. Please let me know if you need anymore information.
