Hi, I recently bought a XTENDEX® ST-C5USBV-300 USB KVM (Cat 5/5a/6) extender KWM switch. When I connect it to a HP DC 5800 SFF desktop I can´t get any video signal when it´s connected via a Cat6 cable. All I can see is a green line. When I connect it via Cat5 cable it works fine. The problem is we have wired a room with Cat6 cable and the device must work with this cable. Any solution will be appreciated. Thanks in advance !

Well see Cat5 & Cat6 are different spec's and are wired differently...They have different wires inside the cable. You would be able to use the actual Wires, BUT they will have to be wired to the "Other" standard in the Outlet Jacks. Either that or get one that works on Cat6. http://www.connectworld.net/syscon/support.htm

USB Keyboard and mouse wont work with PS2 KVM with adapter

Have you tried rebooting once it is connected? Not sure if it makes a difference, but I know you can not hook up PS2 peripherals without rebooting.

Hi, the CS62U is connected with an HP8750 (win2000) and a MSI WIND NETTOP 120 (win XP home). It works perfectly with the HP desktop but the mouse is not responding anymore.

Try this:
1. Disconnect your HP computer, so that only the MSI Wind is connected.
2. On the keyboard, hit [Numlock]+[-] then press [A] (this will auto-search for the computer that's connected, and connect both keyboard and mouse to that port).

Give XP a minute to detect new hardware. If XP does not detect the mouse, try plugging the mouse into a port directly on your netbook. If XP still does not detect the mouse, it's XP that's not detecting your mouse properly, not the kvm switch. :) If it does detect it, you should be able to then plug it back into your kvm switch and it should work at that point.
Note: if you get stuck with lights flashing on your keyboard, just hit [Esc] on the keyboard. That will reset the KVM switch.
Hope this helps!

Usage of KVM 2-Port USB between 'thin client' and 'Desktop' stopt

KVM are not the most reliable and will fail sometimes. The quickest way to get it back is to plug into a different USB port for the one that is active.

Components not recognised automatically with Belkin Switch2

This is not quite a solution, but a workaround. Take a USB cable extender and intercept the 5V supply wire in it (normally red) with a push to break switch. When you have powered up the PC, push the switch and the KVM will then work (same as your unplugging but much easier to do ). Switch bought on Ebay for 0.99GBP. Belkin tried to insist that I had my laptop plugged in and working if I wanted to use my desktop.

I have recently bought a KVM switch off ebay and have connected the two computers I needed to, upto the switch. The first time round the switch didnt work. To check the cables I shut down the...

Depending on the KVM (Brand, Model etc) there should also be a hot key sequence that will allow you to switch between the PC's. See if the hot key sequence works.
Also, is this a PS/2 KVM or USB ? In some cases with USB adapters you have to let the computer start up while it is set to that port. And if it is USB, does it also have a PS/2 connector? If it does, you want to use one or the other, not both. That can cause it to malfunction.
