Question about Compaq Presario 700 470024-192 Notebook
I just got a laptop from one of my dad's friends and it doesn't
turnonor charge when the power is plugged up. I took it to an older
friendofmine and he told me it was one of three things.1. The CPU
fanisn'trunning. 2. The power supply port is dead. 3. The
previousownerplugger in the wrong power cord and fried the whole thing.

Check to make sure the power adapter is working. Most adapters will have an LED that lights up when it is working properly. If there is no LED, you might have to use a digital multimeter to test the plug. It should show about 19V
Next, plug in the laptop, remove the battery, and see if the laptop can turn on. If it can, the issue is the battery and will have to be replaced (battery probably has shorted cells). If it still doesn't turn on, the power jack on the laptop (where the power cable plugs in) has probably broken or has somehow disconnected from the circuit board inside. This can be repaired (I've done it!), but it involves disassembling the entire laptop down to the motherboard. If you're brave, here are some disassembly instructions.
