I have the HP dv6000 and when i got it my dad gave it to someone who was suppost to install all the necesary things for me. Howver when he opened the computer it asked him what language he would want on this computer and he said arabic. I wasn't with him so i dont know what made him pick arabic. Anyway there was this warning paper on the screen when i first took it back from him that the language you pick at the beginning cannot be changed. I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO READ ANYTHING IN THAT LANGUAGE. so what should i do. I cant return the thing. Plz help.

Go into your control panel and select Regional And Language Options. Go through the tabs and set them all to the desired language and location (I'm assuming English : United States, but if not set it to what you want). Also, you may want to click on the Details... button on the Languages tab, add the required keyboard layout and remove the old ones which you don't want.

Change language fr french to english!

Hi There,
The method used depends on the version of Windows you are running.

You can right click on the task bar (where the running programs are shown along with the start button) and choose Toolbars... ' Language Bar. The language bar will now be shown, and you can click this, choose settings ' Add... and choose English.

If the language bar option is not available, and you are running Windows XP, open control panel and choose "Options régionales et linguistiques". From here, choose the second tab and down at the bottom there is an option to change to English. It will ask you to logout (it may be in French) so click OK and when you log back in you should be set to English.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, open control panel and choose "Options régionales et linguistiques". From here, choose the third tab and there is a button to install/uninstall languages.
Please post back if you have more questions.

While typing a document in microsoft word on my fujitsu A550 laptop, all of a sudden, when trying to type / , the french e appears instead of the / that i wanted.

Sounds like you have accidentally selected a French or Canadian keyboard. You need to reselect English.
From the Microsoft web:
  1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clickingControl Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

  2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change keyboards.

  3. Under Installed services, click Add.

  4. Double-click the language you want to add, double-click the text services you want to add, select the text services options you want to add, and then click OK.

If this answers your question, I'd appreciate 4 thumbs. I do this for fun and do not get paid.

Chose french windows instead english windows by accident and need to change it

Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region and then clicking Regional and Language Options.
Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
Under Display language, choose a language from the list, and then click OK.
Obviously you'll have to work out the French equivalents of the options but should be fairly obvious

Changing language

You cant change your language on your laptop true control panel, you need to reformat your laptop in the English language. the options in control panel is just for your regional settings and keyboard settings and so on.

only OS that you can change language in is the Vista Ultimate and then you need to install a language pack.
