Track Files I am working to collect track files for over a 1000 mile trail system. I have a Magellan 400 with a 2Gig SD card. I need to find out the most accurate settings to collect these track files to create maps, etc. I will be converting the tracks into shapefiles using OziExplorer

Hi i need help please. from SA & have a gps which wasn't updated. tried to update it but had not enough memory.

Any GPS units that loose their operating systems usually have to be returned to the maker. With Garmin anyway.

However I found this

Or you could ask Magellan

I dropped my magellan gps system and need to order new sim card, which got lost when it was dropped

How could you lose the Sim on dropping it?

Any new sim card or SD card really will fit it. But if you are looking for map replacement then Magellan are the only people who can supply the correct maps. There is a charge for maps $150 approx. So be aware that they do not replace maps of SD cards free. You will need your serial number, as these are tracked to stolen GPS before any new map0s are provided.

My gps device wont load.

if you mean you moved everything from the flash drive to the sd card, plug in your 3100 to your computer via the usb cord and also plug in the home charger if you have one, or make sure the battery is fully charged by plugging it in fo a few hours.

put your sd card in your card reader, open the sd card drive in your computer and copy (do not move them, use the copy option) then copy the files in to your flash drive for your 3100.

it will take awhile to transfer those files, because its like 1.6 gb.

after its done transferring the files, reboot the 3100. if that fails, let me know by replying to this post so i can continue to help you.

I`d like to use the mp3 on my GPS but don`t know how to put music or pics on

You need a standard SD digital memory card (not the newer HC high capacity cards as Magellan does not guarantee compatibility although I did get one to work that was a micro SD card with the full SD adapter). You will need to put your mp3 music files from your PC onto the SD card just as you would your mp3 player; insert the SD card into an SD slot on your computer, laptop or USB adapter and copy the files to the card. After files are saved, put the card into the slot on the right side of the Maestro and then refer to the User Manual (http://www.magellangps.com/support/product.asp) page 64 to see how to play the music. You can play through radio speakers or by using headphones/ear buds with a USB connector.

Magellan roadmate 1412 just stop working and displayed the following messange: "SD card has been removed. Program will restart. Please insert SD Card with map"

Providing you saved the SD card info as soon as you got it, reformat the SD card and copy the files over. Or find a friend that has the same unit and copy their files. Reformat your card before also.

Buzzing noise when i turn off Garmin 60CSx

This problem is Mac OSX related and can be solved using Cleaneject http://www.javawa.nl/cleaneject_en.html
The OSX operating system creates several invisible files and folders on USB-disks, camera's and GPS devices and the Garmin GPS devices can't cope with these invisible files and folders.
Cleaneject erases the invisible files and folders.

Magellan maestro 3100 failed update

go to Tech support at www.magellamgps.com tell them what has transpired and ask for 2.18 Update Recovery Files. This fixed my problem. Took a few email exchanges but I thought the responses were very quick.

Fault mesage on screen when first strat magellan 500

You can download the US basemap for the 500 at
http://www.megaupload.com/it/?d=EJTNQH03
Rename it BASEMAP.MGI
Then copy it in the directory "background maps" in the SD card of your 500, by using a SD card reader/writer.
Insert the SD card in your 500 and connect it to your PC; then turn it on;it will turn on regularly, because the basemap in the card will be detected; turn it to USB file transfer mode, and copy the basemap from the SD card to the directory "background maps" of the 500.
