Volume Button on steering wheel not responsive!

Installed this unit in a 2007 Chevry Trailblazer. The Volume button on the steering wheel works just fine when commanded to decrease the volume.
I merely tap the button and the volume steps down immediately. When I push the button to increase the volume, it will only respond if I hold down the button extra hard for few seconds. The steering wheel switch was already replaced. Any thoughts?

There is a metal dome under each button, some time they became warped or inverted and you don't get the actuating contact on the first push but if you keep on pressing it eventually contact will be made and whoalaa actuation happened. If you are technical incline you can replace it with a dome of similar size of a device you no longer have use for, like a remote control, an old car stereo or telephone...ect. Goodluck.

Suspect a steering wheel control issue if the volume will work directly from the radio itself.

I wouldn't recommend it because then you will have empty holes in your steering wheel. Plus if you do take them out you need to be careful not to set the airbag off.

Crutchfield sells an aftermarket kit that allows the steering wheel controls to work, but it's $74, and you head unit must be remote control capable. They also sell a wiring harness that works with Kenwood/Toyota as long as you have the original wiring harness that came with the Kenwoood. You'll need to do some snipping and krimping however.

Volume on navigation system

Hi, I think I have a the solution. Simply turn the volume control up! Sounds cheeky but I had the same problem, then realised that while the announcement woman is speaking you can adjust the volume as normal, either on the unit or the steering wheel controls. you can get her to repeat what hse's last said be pushing the button with an ear on it.

Hope this helps!
