Question about Acer Aspire 5610 Notebook

1 Answer

Network issues OK, I seem to be having a problem connecting to my school's network. Everything was just fine, but now all of a sudden, nothing, and it works fine everywhere else on campus. I'm thinking it could be a problem with my network card, but I'm not entirely sure. I bought a new cable thinking the other one may have been defective, but still nothing. I'm currently using an Acer Aspire 5610Z. If anyone has any suggestions, that'd be great. Thanks.

Sure...go to your network settings under control panel, and see if the network card is enabled. You may need to uninstall it from there, and then reinstall it. Make sure you have cd with drivers on it first though

Cannot click ''Connect'' to join Wi-Fi network

This is because it is remembering the "Old" settings which must have been saved as default. What you should do is run the Connect to Internet again, this will reset the network settings and connect. Also make sure to go into networking and ensure the settings are right in there regarding sharing, permissions etc, etc.

Cannot get Toshiba Netbook connected to wireless network

ok. try this:
open a computer on your network that connects to the network. start -> run -> type cmd and click enter.
then type ipconfig /all
then open your laptop.. go to local area connection and click properties.
click internet protocol on the list and then properites.
click on "use the following ip"
and on the three text boxes below type the same settings as the ones that appear on the pc that you did ipconfig /all. the only differnt will be the ip address. if the pc is 192.168.0.105 you should put 192.168.0.106 or something else.
do the same with dns server.
click ok to close all the opened windows and check the new ip of the laptop

Sounds like the problem.

My Toshiba Satellite's wireless won't work. It

Try the properties of your Network controller. And go to your Internet Protocol Version 4 and 6 properties. Sometimes you have to change from Auto Obtain to manual and back again to get the IP addresses to correct themselves. Hope this helps.

Wireless Internet connection problem - Acer Aspire 5520-5334

i must tell u that if u have done all trouble shooting and ur Wireless conn is not func then my friend there is no fault in ur wireless adapter i think the main culprit is dsl hardware this Westell Versalink modem and the lan cable u said is not working in laptop and working on desktop there might be two things why it is not working

1. there are straight and crossed connections in Lan cable Connector may be the coupling is not matching ur Acer Lan port and u are having problems in connecting it.

2. Or ur Lan Adapter is not set properly it needs to be DHCP enabled and set to auto config IP address in the prperties as i said earlier.

for WLAN i am 100% sure if it is not connecting may be ur Modem WIFI module is not functionaing properly and giving u hard time it happens in Power Failure sometimes or surge in the line current.

u shud get it replaced if it was working ok in wireless lan b4 and now it stopped suddenly

try plugging the wireless mouse receiver into a different usb port
reboot your machine
is there a key on the keyboard with a little wireless symbol? if so it is probably in blue and there is fn key that you need to hold down while you press the wireless key to turn on the wireless
