Re: Broken Smart Mix Dial-How to replace
You will have to remove the top, the knob screws on but has a stop tab. Is the plastic below the knob ok, if not then you need to replace the top cover. After you replace the knob, then put the piston on from underneath, have it set to water only selection, then put the top cover back on.

First, insert the black plastic control valve all the way into the hole. Make sure that the rounded face with the cut in it is facing toward the tall part of the chamber/hole where you inserted the valve. Try to line up the dial with where the threads would enter the cut in the valve. Hint: the hole in the center of the dial will go over the tall part of the chamber wall. Once you believe you have it aligned correctly, replace the plastic body cover and keep the dial out of the body cover. Just put in the screw on the side the dial is on, so if it is not aligned properly, you can remove the cover more quickly. Once you have the body screwed down, screw the dial into the hole and it should align easily with the valve in the hole. If not, remove the body cover, and try to realign the valve again. Repeat until you get the dial to screw in easliy.
I just did this today because I had to fix a customer's unit. It took me about 20 minutes or so to figure it out, but I finally got it. I was hoping your question had an answer to it when I got on here, but at least I got it figured out anyway. Hope this helps! That is if you still have this unit...
The knob itself will only go in one way, What I was talking about is when you put the top cover back on, the knob should be in the water only position. This way the piston (on the bottom of the knob) will go into the slot correctly.
Is the smart mix valve turning and stopping where is is supposed to, if it turns all of the way around, then it is broken inside the top cover. Try replacing the smart mix bottle insert and cap asm part #2101795 . Make sure that the rubber gasket is on the valeve asm. at thebottom of the smart mix bottle. If not, it has to be on the valve.
I assume that it is spraying water? Is the smart mix knob turning freely from one point to the end? If not then there is a problem with the smart mix asm. With liquid in the soap bottle, push the valve in to see if liquid comes out ok, couild be that the valve is bad. Is the seal on the valve at the bottom of the bottle, it has to be on that and not just sitting in the hole. You might try running a mix of water and vinegar thru it, maybe it is clogged up.
Take of the housing ,turn it over and you will see the under side of the auto mix dial , Then turn the auto mix dial to rinse only;
On the top of the piston you will see a small slot , this fits into
the out side spiral on the auto mix knob with the dial set to rinse only the top part of the spiail sould point to the courner
Tilt the piston slightly,then hook it on the point of the auto mix knob , when you turn the auto mix dial to heavy traffic the piston should slide down the outer spiral of the auto mix-dial , Put the housing back on with the auto mix dial set to heavy traffic, but make sure no tubes are trapped or this will stop the flow of water, i hope you can under stand what i have wrote ,Goodluck
Put the piston on the bottom part of the knob, You want the the knob to be at the water only setting when it goes into the slot. After the top is pushed all of the way on, turn the auto-mix knob to see if it is turning easily. If it doesn't stop, and wants to keep turning, then you probably need a new knob.
Turn the knob to the water only, put the piston on the bottom of the knob then turn it slightly so it doesn't fall off, Start to put the cover on, when it is straight, turn the knob to the water only selection and push the top all the way down. The piston should have gone into the hole and the knob should turn easily.
