If you want to stop Kaspersky firewall blocking
then go to control panel > Network Connections > your Local Area Connection > properties > In the General tab you will see list of check box's > in one of them you will find "Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Filter" Unstall that one.

This should do the work.

Hi David,

It is the problem of the Kaspersky software as its firewall properties(i.e. NAT) is usually set to high alert. Due to this the DNS lookup will be blocked.
Go through the installation procedure of kaspersky for your OS.
Setting kaspersky in close mode is a immediate solution.

Do reply for further clarification.

No internet connection through routers (broadband AND wireless)

Try to disable any firewalls on your computer. If you already have internet details showing, there's something blocking your connection which is possibly a firewall. Turn off the Windows firewall as well as Norton, Mcafe, Zone Alarm and the like if you have one.
