Try to send it back to the seller. The original Playstation (or PS1) is pretty old - like over 10 years old. That's a long time for a video game console to last; especially it it ever got used alot. I hope that you did not pay much for it. I personally wouldn't buy anything that old unless I had alot of PS1 games laying around that I loved to play. If you can't return your PS1 for a refund, then I would suggest buying a PS2; if you're not in the market for a PS3. There are tons of games out for the PS2 and they still occasionally make new games for the PS2. You can find new or used PS2 consoles at Game Stop, Walmart, Meijer, eBay, & etc.
It's probably too old. I had a ps2 that did the same thing. But it was probably my fault because i dropped it too many times. But it may be time for a new one since you said you cleaned it. I did the same for my first ps2 years ago.
MINE IS TWO YEARS ALSO MODERATELY USED AND IT QUIT PLAYING ANYTHING BLUE RAY..GAME DVDS...BUT NOW I CAN PLAY REGULAR DVDS AND PS2 GAMES THAT ARE NOT BLUE RAY..IM JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT IF THE LASER IS OUT?CAUSE YOU CAN BUY THEM OF FEE-BAY FOR ABOUT 70.00..
