Question about RIM BlackBerry 8700g Smartphone

Handheld is hanged

The phone is hanged after couple of hours usage. The trackwheel indicator is moving it is unable to open any application unless I restart my phone. Need a prompt solution to solve this problem.

Sounds like you need to do a hard reset, Take the battery out fo the phone while the device is on.

This will rebuild your apps, and should fix the corruption.

Other wise you might have to reload your apps or your os on the device.

Frozen blackberry 7520..after using the desktop hardware?

Try to take the battery out to reset it, normally that will work. If not let me know.

have you tried hard might solve the issue.backup everything as it will go back to factory settings
  • From the home screen, select Options | Security Options
  • Select General Settings
  • On some devices, you now select "Services". If this isn't available, go to next step.
  • Click the trackwheel, and select Wipe Handheld
  • Click Continue
  • When prompted, type "blackberry" to continue
  • Your BlackBerry device will erase all the data and put the settings back to factory default

    To Sanitize or Clear out all the information in a Blackberry Device
    Scroll to select the OPTIONS icon and press [Trackwheel] to select.
    Scroll to select SECURITY and press [Trackwheel] to select.
    On some units you may have to select GENERAL SETTINGS before getting the next menu.
    Press [Trackwheel] again to access the Menu screen for the security.
    Scroll to select the WIPE HANDHELD and press [Trackwheel] to select.
    Scroll UP to select CONTINUE and press [Trackwheel] to select.
    Type blackberry on keyboard to confirm the action press <-| key.
    System responds with ERASING INFORMATION.

    the only thing that you can do for this error message is to reload the operating system on the blackberry. You have to have the blackberry desktop manager installed on your computer first. Once the program is installed then perform the following

    To run Application Loader on your computer, follow these steps:
    1. Connect the handheld to the computer (insert the handheld in the cradle or connect directly by USB cable).
    2. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
      • Note: Click Start, Programs, BlackBerry, Desktop Manager.
    3. Verify that a pop-up window appears when the handheld is recognized.
    4. Click Application Loader if the pop-up window does not appear.
    5. Click Update Now.
      • Note: (This option only appears if new device software is available).

    6. Click Next to open the 'Handheld Application Selection' window.
      • Each application lists (along with its file size) with a check box and an 'Action' item.
    7. Review the following information about items that appear in the 'Action' column:
      • Install: Appears when an application is not present on the handheld.
        • The application loads on the handheld.
      • Update: Appears when the application version on the handheld is older than the version available with the Application Loader tool.
        • The most recent version of the application loads on the handheld.
      • None: Appears when the application version on the handheld is the same as the version available with the Application Loader tool.
        • The application does not change on the handheld.
      • Downgrade: Appears when the application version on the handheld is more recent than the version available with the Application Loader tool.
        • The older version of the application loads on the handheld.
      • Remove: Appears when a check box is cleared beside an application and that application was already present on the handheld.
        • The application is removed from the handheld.
      • Note: For more information on a particular application, select the application, then click Details. The handheld’s standard system software is also listed in the 'Handheld Application Selection' window. The software must be loaded on the handheld. The check box cannot be cleared.

    8. Click Next.< been have selections all>
      • The 'Application Data Backup' window appears.
    9. Verify that the first option is selected by default.
      • Note: This option automatically backs up handheld applications and data. Data restores after the handheld software reloads.

    10. Click Next.
    11. Click Finish when asummary window appears.
      • The actions that occur during the loading process appear.
    12. Verify that the handheld resets.
      • Note: This process may take a few minutes.
    13. Click Close to return to the Desktop Manager.
    14. Verify that the Application Loader indicates whether or not the process is successful.
      • Note: If the loading process is not successful, verify that the handheld is connected to computer properly. Repeat the above procedure if there was a connection error.

    I need help with volume

    You may have selected a profile that does not alert you audibly when you receive messages. You may select a different profile, edit the current profile or create a completely new profile. I'm attaching instructions for creating a profile and editing would be similar except you would select a profile then select "edit" for the menu. Be use you have "tone" or "vibrate and tone" selected and that the volume is not on mute. Always save your changes.

    Create notification profiles
    1.In the profiles list, click the trackwheel.
    2.Click New Profile.
    3.Type a name for the profile.
    4.Click an item.
    5.Click Edit.
    6.Set how you want to receive notification for that item.
    7.Click the trackwheel.
    8.Click Save.
    9.Click the trackwheel.
    10.Click Save.

    To turn on tones when pressing the keys, follow the following instructions:

    Turn on tones when pressing keys
    In the device options, click Screen/Keyboard. Set the Key Tone field to On. Click the trackwheel. Click Save.

    8700g trackwheel

    My Friend, the trackwheel Seems to be Broken. I got same problem as well, i decided to open my BB 8700 and got that one part of the trackwheel in broken, hense dosen't suport the other part when Presing. Need to Replace it !!

    in password keeper or security you can turn off the password functions just by trackwheel options and then turn off the passwords for all applications

    Here is the procedure to completely clear the device , You will have to reactivate the device on the network after doing this

    1.In the handheld options, click Security.
    2.Click the trackwheel.
    3.Click Wipe Handheld.
    4.Click Continue.
    5.Type blackberry.

    Phone Freezes

    If you mean that the phone hangs for a couple of seconds and then hangs up the call - I think I found your solution - My Treo was doing the same thing - so I just reseated the battery connection and it fixed my problem.
