Question about Sony KP-46WT510 46" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Sony brick I have changed my ic's and a 5-amp fuse on the "G" board.I turned the set on and the bow-tie effect is gone, but when I go into manual convergence I can only move the red up and down and not back and forth. Somebody said my convergence output resistors were blown. I'm not sure what those are,if somebody could help me out, part # or what board they might be on that would help out alot. Thanks.

The resistors in question are located right next to the convergence ICs. Just lift one end of the resistors out of circuit and check them for being open. The resistors will be all the same type , check all of them usually 1 or 2 of them will be open when the IC goes out.

Colors won't converge. Picture bows. Replaced ic units. Nothing change. Found one little resistor or fuse(?) that has no continuity either direction. Has a loop symbol on circuit board location. Any ideas?

TWO THINGS: first the set uses two five amp so called pico fuses in the power supply board, they are usually orange and look like a resistor, they need to be check for good or open, when one of the chips fails it is not unusual for it to take one of these out.

There are several more near the chips but they very rarely fail, All will have amperage marked like 5a etc.

Check the two fuses on the power supply board, one may be gone.

Let me know what happens or if you have more questions.

I have a sony kp-65w600 i have changed boyh ics and cheked all resisors and fuses still have bow and i am not getting voltage to the ics

There are 2 protection fuses on the +/- 19v supply line. On the G board, check PS6503, PS6504. These are 5 amp IC fuse links, PN: 1-533-597-31. I hope this helps, best wishes.

RCA model P61950

fl231 is the convergence fuse, and is soldered to the board in proximity of the convergence ICS, on RCA rear projection TVs.

If
fl231 has blown, TV usually does not turn on at al, if you get bowed picture, that means that the convergence ICs must be replaced.

The fuse is on the same board where you find convergence ICs, if the fuse had blown, or the pico fuses at the base of the STK convergence ics had blown, the STKs must be replaced.
There is need of purchasing the service manual to do the job.

The repair shuld be done by a technician.

This is the convergence IC, model may vary:

Sony projection big screen

does the led flash when you try to power it up? If so let me know the number of flashes. From your description I would suggest 1 of 2 things happened. (1) The Convergence amp ICs have shorted and blown the 5 amp fuse on the G board, or (2) the red CRT has shorted shutting the set down. Check the fuse and if blown replace the fuse and disconnect the Red CRT PC board from the RED CRT and try powering up the set. If it powers up without shutting down then unplug the set and rehook the RED crt pc board and try again if it shuts down the reds shorted. But if it still wont start with the CRT unhooked or blows the fuse Change the Convergence ICs
