My Eiki LC-XB28 projector has been working well for 2 yrs. I recently replaced the bulb and the projector continued to work well untill i encountered a problem with getting power during the initial start up of the machine. Once powered the red light comes on for a flash and then the whole unit shuts down. Once repowerd i noticed a tiny flah through the air vent at the front of the unit. Would appreciate some help??

SOURCE: won't power up

Hi, The owners manual says that if the red light is flashing, it is an indicator that it is ready to be turned on (use remote or onboard on button); flashing red & green - too high temperature inside, the unit is overheated. Check and clean the air filters; If the red light is steady, abnormal condition and you have to call for service. A copy of your manual is available at http://www.eiki.com/resources/resourcedownload.ashx?filename=/ownersmanuals/om_xb25_20_sb20.pdf Hope this be of some help. Pls post again how things turn up. good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: the projector switching off after 30 seconds

check the following :
1.does the lamp glow
2.do u get the connected image
3.if yes does the screen show temperature or overheat
4.if yes then one of the cooling fans do not work properly & hence the unit turns to standby & goes into protection
if no 1 does not happen, then check the lamp physically,it should not show melted or breakage.
if the lamp seems ok, then the ballast is defective!

It sounds like it is overheating. Are the fans all working? If so, try opening the casing and blowing all the dust out with a can of air from Staples/Office Depot. If the fans aren't working you may need to replace them.

SOURCE: Eiki lc-nb3s projector... fan comes on but no lamp

Please check on of these solutions :

1:Remove the lamp from the projector. Ensure that it has no cracks, discoloration or "smoky" appearance.

2:Try removing and reseating the lamp, or to try another lamp.

3:Reset your lamp timer. Most projectors have no way of knowing if you physically have replaced your lamp. They rely on the user resetting the lamp timer

4:Pull the lamp back out of the unit, give is a brisk shake and reseat the lamp. Occasionally there is some buildup on the lamp contacts or filament during manufacturing.

5:Are the input and output vents blocked or obstructed in any way?

6:Are the filters dirty or clogged? Most manufacturers will recommend filter cleaning on a monthly basis depending on usage

7:Remove any extension cords, power strips and/or surge suppressors. Many current model projectors will not even try to ignite the lamp if they detect drops or fluctuation in voltage supplied to the unit. This is a safety feature to reduce stress on the lamp.

SOURCE: plug in and green light

Check the lamp. If it is not blown then there is a problem in the lamp ballast circuit and the projector will need to be serviced.

Bulb won't work

If you are sure that you installed the new bulb correctly , then I recommend that you reset your projector . Some projectors don't realize that you changed the bulb physically until you reset them .

hi,

This is 2000 Hours, 160 Watts, UHP lamp. dont keep it on always.Check the usage and then replace the lamp. It's better to turn off the projector after each class.

The lamp is around $400.00 for Eiki LC-SD15.
