Does this model shut off automatically when the desired room temperature is reached or does it function on a low medium high type of thermostat that continuously runs? IR 3 0 p m d g - 1

if it is an inverter type air conditioner ( make not indicated) the unit runs continually but the compressor delivery is reduced thereby reducing the load on the motor
as the room warms up again the compressor starts to pump more gas to keep the room at the desired temp setting
older types shut the compressor down and restarted when the high temp was reached

At night its shuts down when the therm is satisfied, but trys to restart right away and when it does start it shuts down right away and just keeps doing this

The thermostat has a differential built into the temperature sensing operation. The differential is normally a degree or more. If the stat shuts down at 72 degrees it should not start the unit again until the temperature in the room reaches 73. If the AC runs and cools properly until it shuts down, I would check the thermostat. The AC can not restart immediately after it shuts off because the pressures in the system are too high at the compressor. It takes a few minutes for the pressures equalize allowing the compressor to start. If the stat tells the unit to start under high pressure, the compressor will shut down on overload. It will start and run after the pressure falls enough for the compressor motor to run.

My heay surge stove will run for awhile and then shut down

The heater is thermostatically controlled, so once the room temperatures reaches the heater's preset temperature, the heater cycles off. This is normal.

However, If the heater goes off BEFORE the room reaches the preset temperature, suspect a high temperature safety switch that may be tripping. Does the heater come back on after it cools down?

Kenmore gas range ignites, begins to heat & then shuts down. It can be restarted by pressing cancel & then restarting, but then shuts down again.

Hi,
You have one of two problems, either your sensor in the oven is off and the oven clock is unable to sense the temperature increase. Or the clock has lost its ability to read the sensor and shuts down. If you use a meter to read the value at room temperature should be around 1050-1070 ohms, if so replace the clock.
Good Luck

Projector heating up and bulb shuts down

The ambient temperature in the room is to high.
Try lowering the room temperature. If that doesn't work
get a small fan and place it near the projector to provide
extra cooling. The projector is running border line on
high temperature and just needs a little extra cooling.

Shuts off before clothes are dry, will restart and shut off again

Most likely, the operating thermostat has failed. When the dryer heats up, it gets too hot and the high limit thermostat turns the machine off. After it cools down, it will start again.

Unplug the machine! Check the thermostats for continuity with a multimeter. All thermostats should have continuity at room temperature.

My kenmore dryer seems to get very hot and then shut down. After a little while it will restart and then heat up and go off again

Most dryers have more than one thermostat. It sounds like your operating thermostat has failed and the high limit thermostat is working. It keeps the dryer from getting too hot when other parts fail. If the high limit thermostat fails, a thermal fuse should shut down the machine permanently to prevent a fire.

All thermostats will have continuity at room temperature.

Furnace burner turns off and on

The furnace is likely over heating and the high temp. safety is shutting it down. It then cools and starts again. Things to check: Filter, Blower wheel and indoor A/C coil. If any or all are dirty you are limiting air flow and need to clean them.
