Toshiba satellite u205-s5044 - fan running continuously-new motherboard

I just pick up the notebook yesterday from having a new motherboard installed. All is well, but the fan won't stop running. Any ideas what this could be? I'm going to contact the repair company, but I'd like to go in armed with some knowledge.

Thanks for the reply lenny. If there's no fan, could it be the hard drive? Something with a high pitch is most definitely running.

I don't think that they normally have a fan.

Overheated and won't restart. Any ideas?

Check to see if your laptop has an option for fan speed control, if it does, increase the rpm's.
Id doesn't be careful, you may have a bad collong fan, if that's the situation STOP using the laptop until you replace the cooling fan.

Dell 1501 on start up the fan runs for a sec then it stops.but dose not run. press the power button once more and it clicks off, I installed a new battery and charger. With no change.

This sounds like a motherboard issue, but first! remove the hard drive to see if the Dell logo comes up, if no! swap out your ram one at a time to see if it will fire up, if no change, dis-connect all external drives and the internal dvd drive, if you still can't get any life, "suspect the motherboard"

You can find a replacement motherboard by searching on with the motherboard's model number. This could be found under the RAM.

Fan not working, a better idea is to install a new one, but I would recommend you to take it to a computer tech because you can damage your motherboard very easily while changing it.

Firewire not recognized.

If running Windoze OS, then try plugging in the firewire cable after you are fully booted and see if it picks it up as new hardware found. That may get it configured for you.
Good luck.
