1) TAKE OUT YOUR LAPTOP BATTERY
• 2) REMOVE YOUR AC ADAPTOR CORD, that's the wall power, remove it.
• 3) NOW HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR 30 SECONDS.
That will drain any static electricity that has built up on your laptop system board and many times fixes the problem of a black screen. After the 30 seconds re-connect your laptop to the wall power and hit the power button normally and see if the laptop comes back up.
4- Replace your battery.
5-Restart

Hi - I have a Dell E510 with a 160 gig RAID drive (or 2 160 gigs together). I swapped one out for a Western Digital 500Gig drive, but now I can't get the drive to show up on my computer. And the Intel...

You have to break the mirror of the raid assembly. There should be an option in the boot screen for you to control your assembly. You have to take away the raid settings in order for the HD's to stop replicating and act independantly.

Blinking amber light and wont boot up.

if the power button was blinking amber, unplug your tower, and hold the power button for 30 seconds to 1 minute, to use any excess power stored in the capassitors in the pc. this was told to me by a dell tech, it is a small issue with the 3100=E310, and 5150=E510 Dimension desktops

When my dell e510 boots and gets past the first bios screen and shows it booting up the system components it is completely unreadable all letters are in the wrong place or distorted and the entire screen...

Sounds like it could be a graphics card problem problem is it's integrated so part of your motherboard unless you have installed a graphics card.If you have a graphics card in it take it out plug your monitor into the other graphics port and enable on board graphics in your BIOS/ integrated peripherals by pressing F12 key,..if it now works you know your graphics card is broke. If you havn't a graphics cardin it your motherboard needs replacing.
