My GE Profile dishwasher appears frozen and looks like it needs to be reset. It typically says 82 or 83 minutes remaining when we start it - but it has 1 hr remaining on it and won't start - what can I do???
Went to look for plug and couldn't find it - BUT I just started pushing all the buttons and looks like it had the delay setting on so it's fine now. The only way we have been able to fix this is to turn off the breaker to the dishwasher for 5 minutes and then turn the power back on. The dishwasher should reset.
Problem solved - I turned the power to te dishwasher at the breaker, waited about a minute, and then turned it back on. Everything worked fine after that.
I turned off the power to the dishwasher for 10 minutes as recommended by a serviceman via the phone and then turned it back on and it reset itself and worked fine.....
Try cutting the breaker off for 5 min, This will reset the control. The issue is in order for a dishwasher to clean the dishes properly the water in the dishwasher needs to be at least 120 deg f. If its not the dishwasher keeps adding more time with the heater on to try to achieve this temp. The dishwasher only uses about 1 gallon of water per fill so if the water heater is a ways away or the temp is not hot enough, the water temp in the dishwasher will not reach 120.
I talked with a GE techy, and was told to either turn off the circuit breaker or unscrew the fuse for the power to the dishwasher, wait 45 seconds, then turn the power back on. GUESS WHAT? IT WORKED!!! try it.
