If this is the U3 SanDisk Cruzer....U3 drives present themselves as two devices. One of them appears as a read-only CD drive that contains all the **** programs and the other is the writeable USB stick part. It comes with two partitions on it, one for data, and the other called "U3 Partition" which is read-only.

NO READ COMPUTER

Try plugging this device into another computer. If it still doesn't work, the device has died.

If it does work, the computer that won't read this device probably has usb driver issues or usb hardware failure.

SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro USB I/O device error

I would recommend plugging your Cruzer into another computer. It's possible that your computer has corrupted or incorrect drivers for the flash drive. This is one cause of the yellow alert in Device Manager. If you move the flash drive to another machine and it works, you can save your data and make a backup copy. If your Cruzer doesn't work in a different computer (I would try at least 2 other working computers), it's possible that the flash drive is faulty.

Sandisk flash drive

Is the account that your tying to access the drive with an Administrator account? If not, Log in as Administrator and try to access the new drive. If you ARE using Administrator privileges on the vista machine, the problem lies in the U3 smart driver. Try downloading and installing the drivers for the XP SP2 os on scan disks website, If vista rejects the install package off of the scan disk website, let me know and i'll extract the drivers and build an install for them for you.

Sandisk flash drive

Vista has not been out long enough for any company to state that there product is compatible. I would check there website to see if they have updated drivers that will make the sandisk usb drive compatible. This may fix the problem!
