Alternator how to change an alternator in a 2004

Purchase a replacement of the same make and model.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Disconnect the alternator taking note of the plug/wire positions.
Slacken off the belt tensioner and remove the belt, taking note of its routing.
Unbolt the old alternator and fit the new one.
Refit the belt and tensioner.
Reconnect the battery.
Job done.

Does a 2007 Golf 1.9tdi s have a timing belt or chain, and when would they need replacing?

Autodata publications show it as a timing belt
recommended timing belt change at 80.000miles
this is qualified by driving conditions , highway speeds , dirt , dust and oil leaks all of which will drastically reduce the service life of the belt
the engine is identified as an intereference engine which means valve damage if the belt breaks or the replacement is not done according to correct procedure
the labor time in an accredited service shop is listed as 3.8 hours
if you have been having the services done according to the service book it should be correct in what has been ticked
you can always verify it at a service dealer shop
as the manufacturer runs engine with both chains and belts , you can verify it is a belt if it has a plastic cover over the area of the timing belt.
if it is a chain it will be a full metal cover

Serpentine belt replacement

The 2006 Santa Fe came with three (3) different engines, each having different serpentine belt arrangements. The 4cylinder 2.4 lit has three belts, the 2.7 has only one (1) drive belt, and the 3.5 lit has two (2). Go to and register your vehicle by VIN #.. you'll then have access to wiring diagrams, shop manuals, service bulletins, illustrations and procedures, etc.

Need to know how to replace 2 drive belts for murray riding mower, Model # 425303x92A

Murray filed bankruptcy in 2004 they were purchased by Briggs and Straton in 2005
This manual is not for your specific unit (no longer available), but it uses the same drive system, so the installation procedure and routing shown starting on page 32 will show you what you need.

If you need it here is a link that you can purchase the belts

Hope this answers all your questions

What is the easiest way to change the drive belt tensioner?

Without getting into a long winded process, your best bet is to purchase a vehicle specific repair manual from your local major chain auto parts store (Pep Boys, Advance, Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, etc.) which should clearly outline how to perform this procedure. Shouldn't cost more than $20 for the manual.

If all you need is the pulley, that shouldn't run over $20, but if you have to buy the entire tensioner assembly, that will run probably $45.

This isn't a difficult thing to do and you'll get a lot of satisfaction in having done the job yourself.

Good luck!

I have a 2004 Hyundai SanteFe.I am approaching 60,000 on it. Manual calls for: replacing spark plugs, replace coolant, maybe timing belt and a hundred other check points. Cars runs and sounds great. Do I...

Yes, time to do these things.
FYI - you can purchase a complete kit for Water pump replacement which includes the timing belt, tensioner, gaskets, etc. You can't get to the water pump without first removing these items anyway, so do it before the pump fails or worse, the timing belt breaks and grenades your interference fit engine.

Plugs are a piece of cake and it's time for those as well.
Replace coolant, and while you're at it, the thermostat.

I hope this helps.

Better intructions than hd service manual?

The only thing better than having an authentic H-D service manual is an authentic H-D mechanic standing beside you. I've used H-D service manuals for years and worked on many bikes that I was not totally familiar with. No mechanic in the world knows it all.

Changing the final drive belt on your dresser is a rather large undertaking. Not only do you have to pull the primary drive, the clutch, the starter, and the inner primary, you also have to remove the rear wheel and the swing arm. But, it can be done by anyone with basic mechanical skills. If you have to remove the front belt pulley, you will need some special tools as well to do the job correctly.
