1) Disconnect from computer, turn it off, hold in volume + button and reconnect it to your computer - continue holding volume + until the Found Hardware Wizard comes up. 2)
REFORMAT FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER - Erases Everything: Connect your iLo player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "ILO 2GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything, and give you a fresh start.

It seems to me like your mp3 player booting software has corrupt, keep trying it it doesn't work after so long you may need to format your mp3 player.
To format you can use the software provided (if there was any.) If there wasn't any software provided follow these steps below:
First connect your mp3 player to the computer, once you've done that go to "Start" - "My Computer" - now look for something called "Removable Disk" which is your mp3 player, once you've found it "Right-click" on it then click "Format", once format as complete put music back on your mp3 player then, unplug it from your PC/Laptop which ever you have, then try switching it on & the problem should have been fixed.
Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful in some way. Further problems, leave a comment on here and i will get back to you a.s.a.p.
If the player allows you to add music on it via USB as a Removable Disk, then copy all the music off the player onto your computer and then format the MP3 player by right clicking it in "My Computer" and going to "Format...".
Start it up without music and see how it goes, if it doesn't turn itself off, fill it with a little bit of music, then a little more until you either put your music back on, or until it screws up again.
OK it may be the Battery ensure it is "Fully Charged". Take Batt out and replace it again, sorta to "Reset it". If the Batt is OK and it is still "Faulting" then return it to the manufacturer for repair/replacement.
This is the worst mp3 player ever invented - i have to tell you this up front. There is no driver, the company does not support the product anymore - I would return it now while you still can.
Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
This very thing happened to me, it will say ILO searching updating and sorting, and it will say this over and over and over. I found out that there is a certain file called an XML DOCUMENT and it is named "WMPINFO" and i found this on my computer and copied it to my ilo 1gb mp3 player and for me it fixed my problem and i could listen to my music again. Aparently this is the file to make it run or something, if you need this file I can email it to you my email is email@example.com
When you open the XML DOCUMENT with XML EDITOR it will read:
