Hi, i have a C710n optra. It just gave me a low transfer belt warning. How do i know how much life i got left, and since it is printing great is there a way to bypass it? The unit is great i just need a manual and a little bit of help.
Hi Matt, i'm not sure how you tell how much life is left, but i know that transfer belts on other laser printers usually go on working way beyond their (built in) redundancy counter. It may be possible to reset it with a service code which i will try and find for you. I have the same printer and have a number of new transfer belts for it so it might be eaisier (although not necessary) to just replace it. Maybe having put a new one in you could swap the old one back until quality gets too bad and then use the new one by which time i may have found a reset code. I can let you have a new one if it helps. Garry

Make sure the rear door is properly seated on it's hinges. Also look for any burs in the plastic guides that the paper might be catching. If you see any burs, try to smooth them out with a nail file or something.
When you install a replacement Transfer belt (it has it's own counter chip) that resets the transfer belt pagecount, and as a result clears any transfer belt life related warnings/errors.
When you install a REPLACEMENT Fuser (that has it's own counter chip) that resets the fuser pagecount, and as a result clears any fuser life related warnings/errors.
PLEASE NOTE - The fuser supplied with the DELL 3130 when new DOES NOPT have a counter chip - the fuser life warnigs are triggered by the printer pagecount. Installing a fuser from another printer (even if it has a ZERO pagecount WILL NOT reset the fuser pagecount (because the 'ship with' fuser has no counter chip.
84 TRANSFER BELT EXHAUSTED indicates that the transfer belt is exhausted and must be replaced. A new transfer belt must be installed to clear this error message. For assistance, you can contact Lexmark technical support or your authorized service provider. Thank you for choosing Lexmark.
What is new to you might not be so new. Sometimes these things can sit on a shelf for months and you buy it not knowing how long it has been there in that store. Being that the belt is possible plastic it wears even if its not being used then it gets old and cracks now you have to have it replaced. Your best bet is to always check to see how long the equipment have been sitting on the shelf before you buy it.
The problem is that you have paper that contains too much moisture. (I bet it's been in the printer for a long time and has absorbed moisture form the atmosphere.. has it been rainy lately? When the moist paper gets heated in the fuser, the excess moisture turns to steam which then condenses back to water
on paper guides etc. Your diagnosis that the water is causing the jam is correct.. Try using some dry paper and it should be fine.
To clear this error:
Power the printer off and let it stand for at least 30 minutes to allow the fuser to cool.
Remove the coating roller from the top of the fuser unit to reveal the orange fuser rollers underneath.
Check to see if any paper/transparency has become wrapped around the fuser rollers or jammed in or above the fuser unit itself.
Since some paper jams can be very difficult to see with the fuser installed, remove the fuser and check for paper/transparency jams under the unit as well. A jam in that area can cause 993 errors.
If there is no media jam and the error remains after the printer is restarted, try replacing the Oil Coating Roller (OCR). The OCR comes with the black toner cartridge. (It can also be purchased separately. Click here to do so.)
If the error remains after the OCR has been replaced. If that does not help I would highly recommend taking it back to the place you bought it from
