I need a quick hardware lesson. My brand new HP G62-144DX Notebook's onboard mouse turns off and freezes- A little red light on mouse turns on, so I know the computer thinks I've turned off the mouse - but I don't know what I did - nor do I know how to undo it. Can you tell me. Thanks!

I figured this out on mine! After contacting customer service and they didn't help, I finally figured it out on my own! OK, when you double tap in the area of the little light, it turns it off. To turn it back on, double tap it again. If you want to turn this feature off, (I DID!) go to control panel, hardware &sounds, under devices &printers, select mouse, devices & settings, select settings, and on the left, see that touchpad disable zone - that's the culprit! unselect it to turn it off. Voila! Tracy

I believe you are referring to a touch pad . If so , click on start and then control panel and open up your touchpad settings and calibrations for speed sensitivity etc. also check your time-out settings.

My ph pavilion dv7 touch pad's light is off, what must I do to get it on again?

Looking at a picture of the laptop, it is like most HP computers. There is a button directly above the touch pad. This is your on/off button. Press it and wait a few seconds, and the light should turn blue.

Key pad below keyboard freezes when finger touches one particular area. There is a little hole there with a light that turns orange when you touch it.

That area of the keypad is used to turn the touchpad on and off.

To view or change the pointing device preferences:

1. Select Start > Devices and Printers.

2. Right-click the device representing the computer.
3. Select Mouse settings

I need to disable the onboard video by finding the jumpers on the motherboard (MSI 7191 Version 1.1). When I installed a new PCI card (because the onboard video is broken) the computer freezes up and...

Go to the device manage and instead of disabling it, uninstall it. Then power down, move the cable to the pci port. reboot, when windows brings up the new hardware found, hit cancel until it disappears. Go back to device manager and if it has re-appeared uninstall it again and go about your business.

Microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse 1023 - not working!

If you know that the battery is good then try this next. There is a VERY tiny shark-fin shaped spring-loaded button on the bottom of the mouse that is pressed in, when you insert the receiver, while the mouse is not in use, that turns off the mouse to save the batteries. If you haven't used the mouse in a while, it can get stuck in the in position, so that when you pull out the receiver, it doesn't spring out and turn the mouse on (indicated by the red light on the bottom). If you notice that the light isn't coming on. Just try manually pushing in the little shark-fin thing a couple times to make it spring back out. After a couple times, you should be able to get it unstuck and the red light should come on.

Mouse, keys, power/wlan buttons freeze

yOU CAN REPLACE THE KEYBOARD, BUY NEW WIRELESS/LAN BUT IM NOT SURE ABOUT THE TOUCHPAD, IF YOU MEAN USB MOUSE OF COURSE YOU CAN BUY NEW ONE,

YOU CAN TAKE OUT KEYBORAD AND WIRELESS LAN AND BUY THE PARTS AT YOUR LOCAL HARDWARE STORE. TO OPEN YOUR LAPTOP YOU NEED TO READ THE MANUAL FIRST FROM THE COMPAQ WEBSITE,
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-001&h_lang=en&h_cc=us&h_product=432984&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&cc=us

SELECT YOUR LAPTOP MANUAL AND CHOOSE PRODUCT MANUAL IN PDF FILE, AFTER THAT JUST NEED SCREW DIVER AND THE PARTS. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION IN THE MANUAL.

Bluetooth mouse won't work

whe u installed you mouse, you installed it from the cd from targus..right? so there is some settings in that program that you can change so when you turn on your laptop the bluetooth seeks for bluetooth items and it will find your mouse. I know its a little bit tricky but you can fix it, find the settings, change them and you dont have to buy a new mouse.

When you turn of your laptop the cooonnection betwen the item is lost, when you turn on you laptop i asume that your bluetooth is now passive, by making it active it starts immediately search for bluetooht items.

Good luck!

I don't like VISTA!!!!!!!!!!!1

Ok, you need to put a new Op system on the computer, (I assume you want XP) If you have an older HP computer that came with XP on it, you probably already have the discs

Now keep in mind, you will probably have to go online and get the drivers for a lot of your hardware (modem/ethernet port, wireless card, maybe even your touch mouse)
