Hi, I'm having a problem with my Microsoft Outlook 2007. Anytime I send an email, however small or large it sits in the outbox for many minutes, sometimes it sends other times it doesn't. Send/ receive doesn't work, no AV scanning at all.
In order to send it straight away, I have to close down Outlook (a lot of the time it doesn't close properly so I have to kill the OUTLOOK.EXE process in Windows task manager), then re-open it again and do a send/ receive and it goes straight away.
It's also the same with receiving emails- a lot of the other people in my office receive emails straight away to their Outlook, whereas for me it takes upto 10-20 minutes longer. I can view the emails straight away and send straight away from my Outlook Web Access, but I need my Outlook client to be in synch.
When the email arrives in my inbox, it shows a timestamp of 10-20 minutes after it should have arrived so it looks like it does arrive but Outlook is very slow.
Can you suggest anything? Do I need to delete all the *.ost files?
Machine is Windows XP SP3 running Office Professional 2007 connected to a hosted Exchange server.
Try this: Make sure the Outlook is close and that you have close it from the task manager.
Click Start>RUN and then type outlook.exe /resetfolders then press enter. This will reopen Outlook and it will ask you to log in. Log in then see if this fixes your problem.

can you log into email via a web page portal and delete the large message in the email server. Otherwise contact ISP if ISP email and ask if they can kill the particular email message. suggest using a drop box to transfer large files for future reference.
You may be able to wait for the email message to download into the outlook 2007
As the issue happens during sending and/or receiving of emails, the usual suspects are having a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with Outlook or having a corrupt srs-file(srs stands for: Send Receive Setting).
The solutions in this case are quite easy;
§Disable your virus scanner's integration with Outlook
This is a recommended procedure anyway, even when you don't have the error. For more background information about this see: Disable virus scanner integration?
§Reset your srs-file
The srs-file contains the settings that you set via the Send/Receive dialog in Outlook (CTRL+ALT+S). To reset it, simply rename it to .old when Outlook is closed. For more information and step-by-step instructions see: Cannot Edit Send/Receive Settings
Also you can use these steps:
Go to C Drive> Program Files> Microsoft Office> Office 2007. After doing this you will see the PST files. Right click on it and go to the Properties and then select the Compatibility tab. Click on it to clear down all the Compatibility Mode Check Box. After doing so, click on Apply and then press OK. Restart the computer and your problem is sorted out.
If it useless use special tool.

Contact your email account vendor for details specific to your email account. You may find that to send, you need to use an SMTP config that is slightly different from the POP account you use to receive email.
If you are trying to send or receive an email in Microsoft Outlook and the password doesn't work, you can check a number of different things. Microsoft Outlook validates your email account with your email provider using various settings. Once it has validated your settings, it will send or receive email. It is not only useful to set up your email correctly but essential if you wish to use Microsoft Outlook.
Gather all of the email settings for your email account. These will be located on your email provider's website in an FAQ or support section. If in doubt contact your email provider to provide all of the settings. Look for any of the following terms: POP, SMTP, IMAP, SSL, SPA, server, and port number. Make a note of all of these. Determine when the problem exists. Check if the problem occurs when sending an email, receiving an email, or both. If the password error only happens with either sending or receiving, this narrows down the source of the problem. Click "Start," type "Outlook" and press "Enter" to open Microsoft Outlook. Click "File > Info > Account Settings." Select your email account and click "Change." Click the "Incoming mail server" field, if your error was when receiving email but not sending. Enter the full "incoming mail server" address as provided by your email provider. If your email is "IMAP" then change the "Account Type" to display "IMAP." Click "More Settings > Advanced." Make sure that the incoming server "Port" number is the same as your email provider stipulates. If your provider requires SSL, then click "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)." Click "OK." Click the "Outgoing mail server" field, if your error was when sending email. Enter the full outgoing server address. Click "More Settings > Advanced." Make sure the "Outgoing server" port is correctly set. If your email provider requires encryption, then select the correct type from the drop-down menu. Click "OK." Click the "password" field and make sure you have entered the correct password. If your mail provider requires "SPA," then click the "Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" to enable it. Click "Next" and then "Finish." Your password should now work. Hope it helps.

Do you have Outlook set up to work with a specific email account? The details of how to make Outlook send mail vary depending on which kind of email you are using (Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc.). You can find instructions for making Outlook 2007 work with many of the common types of email at:
If this doesn't help, you should post information on the kind of email service you are using. Specifically, who is the email provider (Comcast, Verizon, etc.)
Be sure that only one instance of Outlook is running.
You can verify this by openning the tasks manager and ordering process alphabetically.
Kill all redondant Outlook processes.
