Marantz sr6200 problem

In "direct source" mode all of the speakers automatically set to "large", no problem. I've got Paradigm towers with eight inch woofers. But I don't get anything from my sub. I can only get sound from sub when "direct source" mode is off and all speakers are set to "small"

I think it may be related to set up of crossover frequencies within 'menu'. There's a menu where speaker sizes are set, as far as I remember the lowest setting suggested crossower freq for sub somewhere at 80hz as default which may be too high of you have sub.

How do I get this system working properly again?

Here's what I would do:

1) Wherever you get sound, hook up each speaker in turn to validate they are working. If you have another, known working system to do this with, even better.

2) While testing your speakers on the known good system, once a speaker has been proven working, validate that your sound source (and cable) is working by using it as a source once everything else has been validated.

3) Now that you've isolated and proven everything but the receiver, put the receiver in stereo mode and try it out as a simple left/right amp. Once you get this far you will be able to do the surround stuff, but only with a surround encoded (ex: AC3) data stream.

If you need more help, just ask.

Marantz sr6200

need more input.........
connected what ?
i'll give you a tip about optical sound.
if the socket glows red it's an output, if it doesn't then its an input.....optical sockets don't work two way, like some people seem to think.
other then that try selecting the optical channel using the source button.

My Marantz SR6200 is not playing loud and it only plays in analog and when it does and I select tuner cd or Dvd will play, there is also a little crackling on the front right speaker. please if anyone...

Hi, maybe you have speakers misconnected or speakers wiring with short circuit (joined bare cables), please check them because if this continues for a long time, your device could get damaged.

Where should I plug in my sub woffer

There should be two jacks on the back that say SUBWOOFER in the "preout" section of the back panel that is directly above the speaker jacks. Either of these jacks should work for your sub hook-up. Also make sure that you set your front speakers to small in the speaker setup menu, otherwise there will be output to the subwoofer jacks.

I have Denon AVR-2310...but lost operating manual ! In audio set up, more specifically speaker configuration, a choice is given between " FTE", and "FTE +main". What is the...

The manual... http://www.retrevo.com/support/Denon-AVR-2310CI-Receivers-manual/id/23452bh638/t/2/

I'm pretty sure you mean "LFE + Main".

You need to identify the speakers to the receiver as Large or Small regarding their bass-handling capacity more than their actual size.

"LFE" removes the possibly overloading bass in a given speaker channel containing 'small' speakers and sends it to the subwoofer.

"LFE + Main" is sort of explained on page 29 "Bass Setting". The intent of LFE+Main is to task your subwoofer with the bass that ALSO exists on all other speaker channels regardless of their ability to handle it all by themselves. As you can imagine, this might make the subwoofer respond to sonic events that are actually supposed to be directional from, say, the rear channel(s). In that case the event might seem to come from wherever the sub is located instead of the intended direction; or at the very least it might seem to come from both places which is probably not what the sound engineers intended when they recorded the piece.

Having full-range speakers 360-degrees around PLUS a subwoofer, I don't subscribe to the 'bass-is-non-directional' school of thought. If you've ever felt the concussion from and subconsciously glanced toward one of the speakers after, say, a huge explosion, the system is working.

Htddw7600, brand new, sub amp is not working, only way to get any bass sound is to unplug the sub cable from back of main amp and touch it on side of sub out port.

H?,
You have a very good system...one of the best of SONY..SUB does not get activated automatically especially on STEREO mode.DIRECT STEREO Notes • No sound will be output from the subwoofer.
.your system has Dedicated Power Amplifier for 2 Externally Driven Sub-Woofers (200W RMS x 2)..in order to activate the sub woofer amplifier you need to make a selection on the surround modes while you are switching the modes of the surround you will see the speaker position on the display of receiver as well..if you do not see the sub woofer it wont be activated..Sound Field Program (A.F.D) is a good example to test it..
Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up

Hope this helps!

--------------------
Additionally please follow the instruction on your user manual to activate the SUB ,as is follows..

-----------------
BASS-OUT
Low-frequency (bass) signals can be directed to the
subwoofer and/or the front left and right speakers
according to the characteristics of your system. This
setting also determines the routing of the LFE (low-
frequency effect) signals found in Dolby Digital or DTS
sources.
Choices: SWFR (subwoofer), FRONT, BOTH
• Select SWFR if you connect a subwoofer. LFE and
low-frequency signals from other channels are directed
to the subwoofer according to the speaker settings.
• Select FRONT if you do not use a subwoofer. LFE and
low-frequency signals from other channels are directed
to the front speakers according to the speaker settings
(even if you have previously set the front speakers to
SML).
• Select BOTH if you connect a subwoofer and you want
to output low-frequency signals from front channels to
both the front speakers and subwoofer. LFE and low-
frequency signals from other channels are also directed
to the subwoofer according to the speaker settings. Use
this function to reinforce low-frequency signals using
the subwoofer when playing back sources such as CDs.

I have a MARANTZ SR7000 Receiver . I would like to play music CDs in direct source mode and also be able to use the subwoofer. How does one do that.

Not sure that this will be possible, direct source will cut out any changes made by the amp, and as a cd is 2 channel stereo, it wont include the subwoofer. Try some of the other settings with direct source mode.

If I purchase a sr6200 with out the remote will I be able to operate it properly?

Since the inception of AVR's and the need for user setup from a listening position the remote and a basic TV video connection are indispensable.

Given the aftermarket price of remotes, I can see why you ask.
