Hi, Maybe you are having a hard time searching the model of your computer, the key word that you should used is ThinkCentre A50 only because the ThinkCentre S50 and theThinkCentre A50 including the type/version are all under on same category (IBM support website )

Make sure that the HDD is a SATA drive, not the older PATA. There is only one IDE connector, and if you put both the CD/DVD and the HDD on the same cable, the system will run very slow (at the native CD speed).

The BIOS gets corrupted. Replace the battery immediately, load the recommended settings in the BIOS and use the pc like that for a few days. If after that you still get the same problem then the BIOS chip is failing. In that case the only thing you can do is to replace the motherboard.
In the mean time do a full backup, in case it might fail for good.

Your best bet is to try and restore it again with a close watch out for language settings. During the restore it should ask you what language you would like the OS to be loaded in.

Regarding settings not saving
You mention that you removed the CMOS battery... You normally need a working CMOS battery [one that is not flat] for the computer to be able to remember changes to the BIOS settings.

Regarding BIOS being in Spanish
I would hope there would be a language option somewhere in the BIOS settings where you might be able to select English as the display language.

Hi,
Make sure the computer is off, hold down F1 and start the computer, that should get you into the BIOS setup.
If not hit the F1 key when you see the IBM logo, you may have to repeat this until you get in to setup as you have to be fast with an IBM machine.
